   I wonder if there could be a Fediverse model wherein I pay my server/instance a regular fee, and some of that money is used to subsidize writers and artists (etc) who belong to the instance. Is there any non-insane way that could work?

     @Jonathanglick @jonahbk really like this idea in general, something like it has been on my mind as well. I think one of the main draws to contribute could also be to vote on which creators actually get supported

     @jonahbk Well, right, I guess I was thinking that a) having quality content that aligns with the instance's values/interests is just something that they want to exist in the world (I do) but also that b) it functions as a kind of 'ad' for the instance -- ie., look at the cool people who have that domain.

     I suppose you could do cute stuff like have the content/art available first to instance members, but isn't the ideal that good stuff is broadly and equally shared? :)
