     @thomasfuchs If features like this are added, I wonder how they’d translate to the rest of the Fediverse. On the flip side, much of the rest of the Fediverse supports quote posts, and some Mastodon clients—it’s primarily about the visual display of the post and has nothing to do with the server software.

     @thomasfuchs Yep. The reply restrictions and algorithmic timeline would have to be server-side. I’m not sure how reply restrictions would work with ActivityPub, but maybe if you reject the post at the server, unless the user follows them?

     @ramsey @thomasfuchs I prototyped a way to do algorithmic timelines as a hybrid. Server-side would offer a few more kinds of timeline, including 'top toots'. Client-side mixes & sorts multiple timelines based on the user's preferences.

     @thomasfuchs I thought the first one was already there. Another thing that would be cool: more hashtags filtering. For instance, when you write something you *have* to tag it, and people can selectively decide to filter out certain tags. I feel like this will be happening, as we can already follow hashtags (I love that feature btw).
