So this morning did not start off well.

I think Dax (my dog) might still have health issues.

2 weeks ago he started urinating unexpectedly. We took him to the vet where antibiotics and anti-inflammatories were prescribed.

Things seemed to be getting better, but yesterday I noticed that he had to go potty sooner then usual, and this morning, he woke me up an hour early to go out.

Now I'm a stress ball. What if it isn't an infection? What if it's something worse like cancer?

    FUUUUUCK!

@mentallyalex Thank you for the kind, calming words.

Dax was instrumental in meeting the love of my life @beingtam who I met on OkCupid by opening up with a comment about her dog in her profile pic.

We talked and met, and got to know each other. Not long after she asked me to start bringing him over whenever I cam to visit. She had her own dog who was coming closer to the end of it's life, so Dax quickly won her heart.

He brought us all closer together. And for that I will always be grateful.

@Mrfunkedude Sir, first things first - breathe. You won't be able to help if you don't help you, right? :)

It might be something concerning, it might be something benign - right? We have equal chances at both so maybe focusing on the positive and finding out how we can make this as positive as we can?

Dax is a good dog, I'm sure. You're such a good doggo-dad that I have full confidence Dax is loved, in a good home, and has a happy and fulfilling doggo life. That isn't necessarily over.

What if it isn't an infection and something worse? We handle it. You speak with the medical experts, get an assessment, and then you decide with the doctors how you'd like to approach this.

Then you go to GoFundMe and let us help you with medical expenses if they are necessary.

FOR TODAY - I have one request. You are such a wonderfully positive person. Can I have a wonderfully positive experience you've had with Dax? I'm a cat guy - but I know doggos love their owners. Can you share?

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope everything is ok. Dax will be in my thoughts.

My lab has increased his frequency going outside as he's gotten older. A few years ago he'd go out 3-4 times, now it's 6-7. The vet didn't seem concerned about it on the last visit. Told me when I was 70-80 my prostate would function differently too.

@Mrfunkedude I feel ya dude. The other folks in the thread have said it better than I could, but you're a fantastic dog owner and, one step at a time, you've got this! Dax is lucky to have such a caring person looking after him!

Oh my gosh, that is such a sweet story!
@beingtam looks like a lovely lady - I'm so glad you two found each other through Dax! What a cool met up.

Animals are so often the best of us aren't they? I know with Zara (my cat) she just seems to know when the day wasn't the best, you know? She might not communicate verbally - but there is definite compassion, understand, and a 'togetherness' that I absolutely believe is real and lovely.

What kind of doggo is Dax? Sorry if you've mentioned him in the past - I'm relatively new to Mastodon, so I'm still learning who's who. :)

@mentallyalex Dax is an 11 year old Doberman. He came to me when he was just 9 months old. He has been the most loyal, loving, and obedient dog that I have ever had. He's quick to pay attention and always wants to please. He was the easiest dog to train that I have ever had.

      100% pure bred good boy.

      Thank you.

      OH.
      MY.
      Sia.

That dog has one of the smiley-ist sets of eyes I've ever seen! I'm cheating a little because I can see the reflection in his eyes - but that is a look of love and adoration - pure and simple enjoyment of the moment.

Dobermans are very social and trainable aren't they? I love dogs but I'm pretty high maintenance so I tend to find furry friends who don't need me as much. :)

He has had you his whole life? What a sweet and wonderful gift to have given him. With his energy levels, you've undoubtable had quite the relationship! I imagine little puppo Dax growing to teenager Dax growing to Adult Dax has been a joy to behold.

I did notice that they tend to live shorter lives - but I think that just makes the time all the more precious, don't you agree?

We are given a million moments to make precious. He is given hundreds of thousands. It sounds like you've spent the better part of his entire existence making them the best moments that anyone could have. That is to be celebrated and commended. :)

I BARELY know Dax and I'm in love with him now!

@Mrfunkedude I'm sorry to hear the antibiotics didn't help. Has his urine been sent for testing? (Quick tip -a cleaned dustpan on the end of a broom handle slipped in mid-wee can catch what you need).
Is he an older gentleman? Their routine changes as they get older. What they could hold, they cant for as long any more. As I mentioned in my "today" post, I currently have two 14 year old & a 12½ year old. We go out more regularly. Last year we had 12½ & 14 Yr old males, they .1/

@Cbfoley he's 11. I know that our time is closing in on us. I was just hoping for more time.

I'm trying to remain positive. Like @mentallyalex said before, we don't know what's wrong. It may be something that can be fixed. I'm trying to keep that attitude.

It could be an easy fix, like going out more often. Like me with my lot. They make us worry so much, but it is so worth it for all that love they give us ❤️

Woah, woah, woah. Take a breath, Mr Mayor. Bladder infections are well known for recurring, so your first step is to take Dax back to his vet and get him checked out again.
I won't tell you not to worry, cos you will. You adore Dax, he's part of your family, so you'll worry. But know that we're all here for you and Dax, and will support you when you need us to.
Give Dax a big cuddle from me, and let us know what the vet says. ?
