      there are "private" relays that require you to pay bitcoin to be able to write to them but anyone can just spam public relays which is what they do. if you look at the public feed for any public relay it's just nonstop chinese spam

      its bad for security since if you get "hacked" (eg your key is stolen) you have zero recourse. and pasting your key into random websites is an incredibly easy way to get your key stolen

      i think the main issue w/r/t this is the fact that currently the only way nostr relays seem to deal with spam is paid relays using bitcoin and those transactions will be fairly easy to link to a real person unless they go out of their way to anonymize their transactions
