     @redstarfish We’ll bend over backwards to ensure we support every whim and demand of users no matter how unreasonable, and then when our software breaks because of it users will ask us why it’s broken.

     That’s basically the philosophy of a lot of unusable FOSS projects. The great thing about open source is that users can maintain their OWN unreasonable demands.

     @realcaseyrollins @bot Yes. There should be 45–90 characters per line, so increasing the font size tremendously would make it legible again, but you’d have to take a few steps back from your screen. And you wouldn’t be able to see as much content at once.

     I just like it big. I have a standard sized monitor, and my nose isn't pressed to the screen, its a full arm length away so I can scan with my eyes the entire length of the monitor without moving my head.

     @Salastil I tried to find a plaintext version of the Bible to demonstrate how crazy it is to read text that way, but I couldn’t even find one where they didn’t limit the line length: https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/10/pg10.txt

     Even plaintext email clients often have an 80 column limit. Source code, too.

     @Salastil It depends on the context for sure. That document is formatted for a very specific screen size, and it might even be better to truncate and pan right in that case.

     I’m talking about reading blocks of text. Wikipedia is a better thing to compare.

     It’s funny, half-screen of 1080p works better than fullscreen 1080p because the text wraps weirdly on fullscreen. (left is half-screen, right is fullscreen, half-screen uses the real estate better)

     @graf @alex @Salastil So I used the screen splitter with OnlyFans and Twitter - UI is similar to Soapbox. Only difference is the menu items on the left are displayed as icons (without the text) as opposed to Soapbox, which shows icons and text (see red arrows).
