@Hyolobrika @moffintosh @nina yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the council republic model, particularly because it's usually conceived without division of powers. also the most prominent example (the russian soviets) were apparently fairly easily taken over by the centralized state, though i should brush up my history on that...

i do prefer a model that has free markets for law, arbitration and security predominantly organized in cooperatives.

@moffintosh @sofia @nina I don't think Sofia said anything about that. But one difference I can think of is the degree of centralisation.

@sofia @nina @Hyolobrika Where is the difference between an elected administrative council which picks the CEO vs an elected goverment which picks the CEO?

@nina "socialism" is used for two pretty much opposing things: workers autonomy in the workplace and state control of of the economy.

those advocating the latter will use the former as a shield "see, socialism doesn't have to authoritarian" and the former often let them because if the ridiculous notion that "we have the same goals".

the conflation is helped by a general disdain for economics, the promise of plenty, and democratic ideology "the government is all of us".

Why is communism/socialism always associated with totalitarianism/authoritarianism? Are they inevitably tied? Why?
