I think I underestimated just how much printing this is gonna be. This doesn't even include the extruder assembly or any of the optionals my kit came with. I'm using a text file to keep track of everything I need to make but I'm legit going to lose track of the parts once they're printed unless I find a way to label or categorize them.
My ender 3's got its' work cut out for it...
@Hoss @DireGoy Now I'm reminded of that school that said they were removing analog clocks because the students couodn't read them.
My pre-k children can (partially) read ours, WTF are these schools doing?
@Paradox there isn't realllly anything in that price range I'd need to over double my budget almost triple to get anything actually good.
The ArcB580 is around $300 because its an intel card and everyone is still wary of them.
My next pick would probably be a 7900XT which is $700
My parents, still living, hate it. The people in my larger family absolutely despise it. Partner's family? Them too. Meanwhile, I can still tell you from where everything comes and why it came from them.
My parents keep hinting maybe for a gift they could get me a matching set. I keep telling them no.
I've had other family *gift* me stuff without permission too, even knowing of my wishes, of which I took a few pieces and gave the rest off to a thrift store.
New blog post! Scientists have known there were mastodons in California for a long time, but we're still learning more about them.
My blog is not ad-supported, so if you like what you read please leave a tip or subscribe. All proceeds go to support the blog and to support research and outreach at the Western Science Center.

@whitequark @gsuberland I figured upstreaming would either blow up in my face or get me a really good relationship with them.
My mental calculus was that they're a tiny company (like two dozen people or so), I'm a very happy customer showing off their product all the time on my birdsite (at the time), and paying them several thousand dollars a year in support contract fees on top of the... probably around $20K? initial outlay for the seat over the years of upgrades.
And I'm offering to nearly double the speed of their product and not even asking for anything in return.
While they would be legally within their rights to sue me for breach of contract, actually doing so would be monumentally stupid.
So I decided to take the risk and tell them about it.
