   @stux I agree with you, but in the US it’s that gun owners here as a collective have decided that dead mall shoppers, dead schoolchildren, and huge numbers of self-inflicted gun deaths are an *acceptable cost* of being able to own guns.

   It’s not about “the right to bear arms”—that’s just rationalization. It’s about being so utterly selfish that one’s ability to play with guns is far more important than other people dying because of one’s hobby.

   I assumed that a lot of people were killed given the level of news coverage. But, no, this story of "Venezuelan gangs in Colorado" is just about splashing around images like this one of young men who aren't white with big guns.

   It's presented to white audiences by Fox and Republicans as "migrant gangs" ... both of those words are unconfirmed, assumptions.

   But this image unlocks a primal fear for many people. A horde of "others" coming for your family, your women.
