@jenkins I wish I could get some sleep instead of browsing Fediverse. Yet, here I am as well.
My dreams suck anyway. Fedi is much better.
If we're not doing well, we can possibly hide it somewhat from our loved ones for a few days, maybe less when it stretches to several, but beyond that..?
We try to protect them, to give them reprieve from anxiety, fear and disruption. We don't want to burden them.
I suspect they know and hide that for our sake as well.
My wife is less than 2 weeks away from going on her bucket list vacation. This means everything to me.
I've been in emergency twice this past week.
Damn, this is hard.
💯 Sympathize and am right there with you.
People who haven't been in the field as long don't understand how burnout triggers can simmer and grow for years and years.
The crazy number of sprints, retros, and refinements along with lean departments and the attempt to boil coding down to a "plug and play" assembly has made things unbearable from my end lately as well.
My thoughts are with you.
I made a new thing: slash pages dot net https://slashpages.net/
What is it? A guide to common pages you can add to your website. Thanks to @shellsharks
for the help in getting a good description together as well.
My blog post about it: https://rknight.me/blog/slash-pages/

Two #WeblogPoMo2024 posts in one day doesn't seem like a good idea this close to the end but yolo as the kids say
@robin @jeff Thanks. I know it sounds paranoid, but I feel like if I use a Chromium alternative browser that I am just using a different flavor of Google.
I was shocked when Opera switched to Chromium, & later on it seemed many others (including Microsoft!!!) switched as well.
My concern with Firefox is that they are heavily dependent on Google (financially wise), creating a precarious situation. I ponder if they will actively exist five years from now.
I think one of my sticks of RAM have died... But that still doesn't explain my swap being half as well.
My desktop is acting very strange. I don't think it.
