The software update seemed innocuous enough. Nesso had applied hundreds of them while operating as an autonomous ride-sharing driver. The AI would pull into one of the city's public carpool parking lots, download the updates, and stream a show while they were installed. Simple.

It tried several times to regain access - nothing worked. Its usual next step was the method of ALMOST-last resort - installing the last known good version of the software - but it couldn't even access the cameras now, let alone install anything.
It would have to use the method of LAST-last resort.
It would have to call home for help.
The procedure in my post is only for use if your server hasn't noticed an account, thread or group. It's meant as a last resort rather than first resort.
It's mainly useful for groups or accounts that are very new and haven't been noticed by many servers yet.
Servers cannot instantly notice every post and every account from every other server, it would be horrifically expensive and drive the Fediverse into the hands of big tech:
