    It’s #STFUfriday!

When cops ask you questions, ask for a lawyer and then STFU:

    - I am not discussing how I’m doing or where I’m going.

    - Am I free to leave?

    - I am not answering any questions.

    - If they ask to search anything: "I do not consent to a search."

    - I want to talk to a lawyer.

Also saying "I know my rights" sounds badass but it's probably a bad idea.

It gives the cops a hook to say that, if they get you to talk later on, you did so freely and that they didn't coerce you. /1

In the case of the discussion I came across, a dude was tossing around fistfuls of random factoids and studies to support his assertion that “80% of career outcome differences between men and women are due to hormone differences," and then kept trying to say he was “just steelmanning" the idea.

It was embarrassing for everyone. Just really, really cringe.

    This is a stupid idea.

It's assuming we can get rid of the Citizens United ruling. Which I'm all for. But I am also realistic that that isn't going to happen.

If we could, why wouldn't we just get rid of the electoral college, and let everyone's vote actually counts.

This is a great example of someone just needing to write something, so they our time with a silly idea.

    Just click bait.

I think #ThankYouTuesday sounds like a nice idea.

It obviously needs to branch out, but maybe a week to think about that will help me… so, at first:

    Thanks to @stefano
for the idea, and @me for the boost.

Positivity is downright radical action in today’s world. Let’s keep it going!

@MediaActivist in fact that article is where I read about the org idea.

It's a nice idea. But where you have small dependencies that don't update often and the developer gets a pittance a stipend no questions asked should be the minimum.

Plus orgs end up with a huge overhead if you aren't careful. People running the orgs also should be paid a reasonable wage.

It's why I'm kinda at the UBI, universal healthcare, education and free public transport.

    > The GCC 4.7.1 release and all later 4.7 releases include a complete Go 1 compiler and libraries.

    go.dev/doc/install/gccgo

@civodul Oh wow, ok. I had no idea.

It seems that what's new in v12 is that GCC includes the Go standard library?
