@RehnSturm256@Jain@critical if it is working, then - (1) since I now know about why my avatar is stuck in default, I guess I can try upload it again (2) if it's already fixed, maybe you didn't need to move the files or add storage
@foufoutos@apps I still rate protonmail way above tutanota, though protonmail is less good than it once was. I'm lucky I have a legacy @protonmail.ch account which they don't issue any more.
@Jain that's strange, but thanks for fixing it. we are streaming, by the way. Now, there's no way to set a profile photo or background, though I did try to re-set the old ones. Is there a permissions problem - as in, make the /var/lib/program owned by "program"program"?
@Jain@foufoutos I was afraid were you attacked, or had an upgrade problem. I recently had to rebuild a whole server, because I so screwed up my dependency chain, it just broke. lol Of couse, shit happens. So I'm very glad I have another acc't.
@evan Consider who owns newspapers, and also consider broken promises made by Murdoch and Bezos: several people in the conversation remarked that details of who owns and uses the "Journalist" instance need to be worked out. Oh yes negotiation will be needed. Corporate ownership will not be acceptable for real journalists, like Wiiliam Arkin, or Brian Krebs. @briankrebs
@Jain actually, I have unused resources. If I organize by projects properly, I might have an entire server free. I don't want Mastodon, and I like akkoma, probably better than I like pleroma, so I am thinking about setting it up. I'll take a look at git. Maybe I can figure it out.
@Jain oh I see. You know, I have a few other questions, because I like this software better than Mastodon. I'll just get right into one: can the resources for this instance be distributed across multiple servers... easily? I actually have several severs I rented for indyradio.net I might be able to help you somehow, or set up a separate, friendly instance. What I see here is totally good :)
