Am Wahlkampfstand in Koblenz wurden gestern Kubotans verteilt. Das sind massive Metallstäbe mit Griffrillen, die als Schlagwaffe oder Druckpunktverstärker eingesetzt werden können. In anderen Ländern (z.B. Australien, Kanada, Schweiz) sind diese als Waffen eingestuft und verboten!

Wir sind entsetzt, wie hier Gewalt befördert und normalisiert wird. Schluss damit!

Although France records 160,000 cases of #ChildSexualAbuse annually, convictions are made in only one percent of cases. Bard noted a report that stated a child in France is a victim of #rape or #SexualViolence roughly every three minutes.

Bard pointed to what he called the decisive failure in Lyhanna’s case: the third complaint against Barella was never flagged as urgent as it moved between prosecutors’ offices.

Had it carried that designation, he said, “Lyhanna would probably still be with us.”

Bard’s organisation is pushing for a new legal tool modelled on protection orders already used for victims of domestic violence. This is an emergency measure that would let a prosecutor bring a case before a judge within days so a child can be placed in a safe environment, rather than routinely left in the custody

What turned grief into national outrage was the revelation that Barella had already faced two prior accusations of raping minors – both dropped or stalled. A third complaint, filed in August 2025 by the mother of a 10-year-old girl, accused him of repeatedly raping her daughter at his home.

That case bounced between prosecutors in #Toulouse and #Auch. Barella was not questioned when Lyhanna disappeared nine months later.

An official inquiry by France’s justice and gendarmerie inspectorates, based on roughly 30 interviews, later said that once the case reached the Auch prosecutor’s office it had not been treated as a priority, and that the investigation itself was inadequately supervised.

Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said the findings showed the “protection chain” for children had broken down.

The case of Lyhanna, an 11-year-old girl raped and killed in the southwestern town of #Fleurance, has shaken France for more than a month, leading to protests calling for the protection of children and forcing the government to promise sweeping reforms on the issue.

Lyhanna went missing on May 29 after getting into a car with a man prosecutors claim was #JeromeBarella, the 41-year-old father of one of her schoolmates. Her body was found six days later in an abandoned grain silo. #Barella has been charged with abduction and unlawfully confining a minor and remains in pre-trial detention, though the cause of death has not been officially confirmed. He denies the charges.

Man kann deshalb nicht sagen, dass Frauen das selbst merken müssten. Wir sehen durch die Professionalisierung des Netzwerks, dass die Täter sich genau überlegen, wie die Frauen möglichst nichts bemerken. Der Ansatzpunkt ist deshalb, sich die Menschen anzuschauen, die solche Inhalte teilen: Was wird verbreitet, wer steckt dahinter und lassen sich dadurch Betroffene und Täter identifizieren? Dort kann man gezielt ansetzen und die Wahrscheinlichkeit erhöhen, die Täter zu stoppen.

Last week, #Right2Equality launched their report “Scratching the Surface: Evidence of Victim-Blaming in Family Court” at a parliamentary event hosted by #KirithEntwistle MP.

Right to Equality is a non-profit organisation founded and co-directed by #DrCharlotteProudman and #DrAdrienneBarnett.

The report reveals that 72.5% of #judgments analysed contained at least one instance of judicial victim-blaming. Of the 530 recorded instances across court professionals, the majority were attributed to judges.

Dr Charlotte Proudman is a leading voice in family court reform. In her experience as a barrister, she has seen how abuse can be normalised, trauma minimised, and survivors silenced within the #JusticeSystem.

This report reflects what survivors have long reported: that #bias is real, embedded within the family justice system, and influencing decisions that directly impact children’s safety and can cause lasting harm.
