@inthehands@davidsandilands seriously though, you live in the US. The Democrats are "the good ones" and Democratic presidents have helped increase fossil fuel output to record highs. Biden claimed during his campaign that he wouldn't let more companies drill, and then when in office, he let them drill.
People have tried pushing the Dems to move left, it doesn't work. See green new deal.
What is your suggestion to achieve the huge changes required?
@inthehands@davidsandilands the problem is that developed countries are doing their classic "buy a thing to fix a problem" solution. It's like swapping to light bulbs. They think that's enough.
Existing governments and political parties will never make the radical changes needed to stop extreme climate change. It will take things getting really bad, and people having nothing left to lose, for citizens to force the changes we need.
@davidsandilands@inthehands any solution needs to radically reduce the amount of carbon going into the atmosphere. You've correctly identified that electric cars do nothing. Carbon capture does nothing. Trees are too slow.
To reduce carbon output by the level needed we need changes on the scale of entire countries. Regulating industries, replacing coal with renewables.
These big government schemes are usually called "socialist".
The alternative is individual terrorism against industry.
