    @Suiseiseki the same binary can't work in Linux and *BSD, have to be recompiled for each
    most of the time there are no compelling technical reasons for API or ABI changes, and the interfaces aren't given the amount of thought they deserve before coming up with them

    what if #copyright and #patents are indeed more helpful for smaller companies competing against the larger ones than vice versa
    of course it's a lawyers bullshit in either case, but there's so much of it anyway, with or without copyright and patents present

    @Suiseiseki well then I guess the goal it to never have any stable APIs and ABIs, always changing them for whatever reason or without any reason, and ideally have all the software in one tree without any resemblance of modularity
    if that's what FLOSS ideology inevitably leads to then maybe I should just refuse it as such

    things like #UVM make me wonder why the vendors of proprietary (V)IP cores can agree upon a unified interface for the cores while Linux, *BSD, and other less known FLOSS projects can't agree on say driver interfaces
    even within Linux alone the drivers won't be compatible between even minor version changes and thus have to all live in the same repository — looks like one huge technical debt

    :drake_dislike: switching to "main" for the sake of political correctness and "sending a clear message"
    :drake_dislike: insisting on "master" out of spite to the political correctness and language policing
    :drake_like: adopting "trunk" from SVN to avoid arguing with both camps, honor an innovative¹ VCS of the time, and have consistent terminology (branches in a real tree grow from the trunk)

    ¹ then most s/w projects used CVS and file locking, while SVN offered merging and generally much saner interface resembling Git, e.g.

AFAICT they're either young and attractive, and are actively looking for an old man so he'd spend money on her while she could also fuck a young man for pleasure, or are themselves old or unattractive, and only dream about it, while in practice have to actually work themselves or bear children
    if anything, I prefer the role of the lover she cheats on her husband with, than the husband himself whose role is reduced to mere wallet

    a lot of questions were about planning — I don't plan much, I can't realistically plan anything long-term, now or ever
    another set of questions were about handling conflicts — nowadays I wouldn't try and prove anything to anyone but rather lull them so they wouldn't want to prove anything to me

    BTW I've got a new glasses -- not that they make a lot of difference in my case, but still they have a lot of small advantages over my old ones:
    - the optics matches better
    - the field of view is wider
    - they're photochromic
    - with UV protection
    - the lenses aren't scratched
    - the frame isn't held together by a copper wire…
