#collaboraoffice is excellent free alternative to Googles collaborative office technology, its based on Libre Office technology, #collabora is the largest contributor to #libreoffice and does a lot of other good for #freesoftware . You can install it super easy if you have a #nextcloud instance, or if you use a nice cloud host, or for no charge if you want to learn some systems administration and use your own hardware.

For those unfamiliar with html: the href section, everything between href=" and "> is the real link, and the section between > and </a> is the display text

This html feature is useful so that a link can display as smething like "Read more", "Profile", "Wiki" etc, but in this case it is misused.

Google tracks people that are not using any of their products by adding hidden tracking links to exports without designer knowledge or end user consent.

@Suiseiseki does the nix package manager contain any non-free component or backend? Or are you referring to the problematic mixing of free and non-free software in the "main" repository nixpkgs

The #nix installer does not work with #selinux enforcing ... :fedora:
And you have to install it by running a script from the internet ... no package

Too little is being done to allow people to actually install #nix safely and easily

That said it is an amazing project overall

Some corrections to money misconceptions stemming from poor understanding of mathematics.

The stock market is zero sum, every dollar earned by the seller is lost by the buyer.

If saving is constant, increased government spending and increased taxes do not effect the gross income after taxes. Money spent is not destroyed, it pays workers.

You are never too poor to save money for emergencies, it saves you money.

The term "open source" is too often used to distract from the ethical issue we face as a society. The control that the developers of proprietary software have over their users is unjust. The four freedoms are required for a free society in the age of information.

Say libre software, say free (as in freedom) software! Don't be afraid to advocate for whats right in a world deprived from the education they need in order to care.

@fsf my university all of a sudden decided that only Microsoft Outlook was allowed for viewing and writing our email. And of course keeping up with the email was required. So someone unilaterally decided to exclude anyone who did on want to compromise on ethics simply to get notified. Their "security" was a Joke, but even so better than other schools.

Today I found out that google docs infects html exports with spyware, no scripts, but links in your document are replaced with invisible google tracking redirects. I was using their software because a friend wanted me to work with him on a google doc, he is a pretty big fan of their software, but we were both somehow absolutely shocked that they would go that far.
