I remember when 1Password was a shining example of a good Mac Citizen app when it was native and fun. The new passwords app, although simple, is giving me vibes from that time long ago with 1Password and for that, I freakin’ LOVE it.

Why is it that app icons are being made with so much spice and flavor yet the associated UIs are so fucking bland... bring the app icon design energy to UIs too plz.

Back when the blue in Aqua wallpapers weren't so saturated that they'd hurt your eyes and Graphite was actual Graphite (grey with a hint of blue) and not just boring ass grey.

Toggling speaker phone should be one tap and instant. This menu always makes it feel like it takes much longer and triggers anxiety. Heh. I’d argue using the speaker phone is different than routing to another device.

Working at the Apple Store, even from at least when I started in 2006, we'd call today “iCal Day." We'd all wish each other a “Happy iCal Day." 😁

Why? Because the iCal dock icon always read "Jul 17."

And today, we have the Calendar emoji reading “Jul 17." 📅

Let’s talk about design in Software Update… This is SU in Mac OS X Tiger. It was a delight to use.

It was simple and clean in the sense that it was as Albert Einstein once said: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”

The design of UI and SU these days is cheap design. It’s “clean” & “simple” in the sense most UI is removed. There’s no thought behind it other than to show as much white background as possible.

Real design is purposeful & deliberate.

And it worked.
