This was an odd WWDC. Not saying it was bad, just odd. WWDC has felt increasingly more marketing-for-everyday-folks focused and less about Developers and today's was no exception. It seems like more influencers attend than developers.

Also, the marketing pages for macOS 27 Golden Gate don't even mention anything about the under-the-hood enhancements. Why? Too technical? It just talks about the UI enhancements and Siri AI features.

This is all just too odd.

Corporations are now feeling what we felt when we (consumers) were captured by inexpensive streaming plans, made us think we didn’t need/want physical media, and then hiked prices continuously for streaming services. Now we are cornered into paying more than we ever have for media we “rent.”

@nikitonsky yes much rather get this one but I already have my secure chain holder mount where this one would go ☹️

Anyone have a bike with a mounted AirTag? If so, what did you get to mount it? Is it any good?

📢 Two articles calling out I am not using the correct animation. This one being the latest. That and friends texting me links to these articles...

I just went ahead and removed the shake animation altogether. The app update is now live.

Clicking on the Dock icon no longer makes the app shake side-to-side quickly.

I'm really enjoying this new wave-animation shown when Live radio is playing. :) ⏈

Y'all thought the menu icons in #macOSTahoe were bad on your shiny and crisp Retina display…?

Have you see them on a standard, 1x display?! They're hella blurry and distorted af!!!

This is why icons here were a bad idea to start... idk what Cupertino was thinking.

These are icons for my PDX Transit (AppKit) app. LOL the Edit icon looks more like a "Cancel" action icon.

And the way the menu corner’s render is... rough. oooof.

iOS 6 has to be the last iOS with well-designed UI. The UI is intentional and clear. It doesn't try to be anything more than that. It doesn't blur the lines between UI and user content. The UI is actually there as you need it rather than playing peek-a-boo with you. The visual affordances are very much appreciated. You know what is your stuff and what is a control or tool. And it makes *excellent* use of the very small real-estate available to it. It's refreshing to see.

This could be a case study on how design at Apple has gotten worse. Take iTunes/Music for Mac:

1. From Catalina on, full-height sidebars started eating into valuable toolbar real estate.
2. In Tahoe, not only to stupid big corner radii eats more into you usable area, they now allow the inspector sidebars to cut even more into toolbar space.
3. The volume & scrub controls are now an extra click away.

Just compare these newer UIs to #iTunes from 2010. Full-width, excellent use of space.

Apple UI in 2025. Accidentally Misaligned. Accidentally Clipped. Accidentally overlapping.

Attention to Detail. Amirite? Design is how it works…
