This was the moment on the Senate floor when Cindy Hyde-Smith blocked Tammy Duckworth from passing her bill to provide federal protections for IVF by unanimous consent. Duckworth's children were conceived via IVF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0nGONQQxrM&t=33s
Mastodon is actually far more engaging than Twitter was back in, say, 2011-12. Went back and checked some of my tweets from back then and some got like 20 impressions, and I was covering the US Senate.
I wonder if the Senate of, say, the 70s or 80s would have processed the Feinstein attempted temporary departure from Judiciary without partisan roadblocks. Nobody filibustered Clarence Thomas in 1991 when he was confirmed 52-48.
If you are thinking of joining Mastodon, today might be the day to do it, before Twitter shuts down the remaining tools allowing you to export your Twitter follows, or starts charging you for it.
Mastodon’s limitations mean it relies more on its users to surface good content. Search doesn’t really work. There are far fewer suggested posts. QTs don’t really exist yet. Trending doesn’t really work. So boosting becomes the absolutely critical way for other people to find interesting things. IE, if you see something you like, boost/RT it, tag people who you think might be interested, etc.
I ask senators questions in hallways for @Bloomberg. #FridayNightZillow #CheapZillow for fun. Opinions mine. RTs ≠. Email: sdennis17@bloomberg.net. Twitter/Instagram: @steventdennis
