Of all the points of distinction one could highlight, weakness, a low resistance to fascism, a demonstration of how backfooted one can be to fascism, is not the one I would have chosen.

You have an oligopolistic class that wants a country how it wants it, that state is a level of corporate control an ass hairs breadth from neofascism, and when that completes, everything that facilitated it in place, there really is nothing to stop the fascists taking over. Some oligarchs will make the conversion, others will have their wealth taken from them by physical force and edict.

Their addicts money games, competition they thrive on, their destruction of democracy, takes us to war.

At this point I'm fairly convinced the successive shifts of democrat and republican presidents in office, evidenced by shift-right are all an intended control method to get society exactly where oligarchy wants it. A collaborative erosion of democracy. Complete with all the risks of a fascist takeover that brings.

You can't fight the Trump republican party by pretending to be polite while conducting a genocide. It's a cult, you're too compromised to deal with it.

You go to procedures for dealing with cults, which you might find easier to do with a president with a working brain, a bit of leadership, not some politeness twaddle coming out of a focus group, based on customer surveys and amateur psychology.

The Nazis taking over the republicans know that Trump is just a big old handful of shit to throw at an incumbent president. He is a clown. He's designed to be. An infestation of fervour, not logic. If you're voting to keep the hardcore fascist ideals of an oligarchy that has already veered too far in that direction out of office, you create a movement, not a presidential figurehead, let alone prop one up that is broken.. You show the citizens the importance of social cohesion and collective action to resist a great threat.

If you were the kind of scum that wants fascism, you'd still need better than Trump, because he's an insane, perverted, gibberingly insane cartoon character.

Neither potential president will really preside. One is barely capable at best, the other was NEVER capable.

You're not really voting for president, because neither is viable. You're voting for parties and what they may indulge. You keep talking figureheads. Keep refusing to elect anyone capable of being personally more powerful than that, while essentially admitting you could replace them with almost anyone from their respective parties, and that the optics of doing so is worse than current.

You are afraid of Trump. This ridiculous orange freak who speaks in tongues fit only for the asylum.

But you've forgotten how the Nazi core seems him. He's a tool. He could be a dog shit, a spork, a half eaten week old sandwich. He's a tool of god. That to know him is to be degraded, to listen to him to be made dumber, to see him, repulsed.

It doesn't matter. To them he is a mess to an end. His utility far more important than his worth.

...and why is this important?

Because Trumpians may be a cult, but what you don't understand, is behind it, is christofascism, the modern western continuation of fascism. The Nazis and the neonazis. Sanctified under a god that is uniquely theirs, and theirs alone.

To most modern Americans the president is almost a diety. But to a christofascist, god is the only diety. That god can be seen in anyine and anything they want to.

Trump is an expendable tool. More than you and he realises.

This kind of overinvestment into this almost messianic cult of the president is part of America's whole problem.

You don't have a candidate worthy of the power of the office. You haven't invested in democracy enough for that to be your contemporary reality. You need to reaffirm for yourselves that your collective cause is more important than the president. A massive psychological reaffirmation of antifascism. You put out that call to a nation.

Hitler himself would have been utterly repulsed by how ridiculous Trump is. He's no member of the master race, that's for damn sure. He'd have ordered him shot on the transition of power without speaking to him if at all possible. That's the living persona behind their movement.

Trump can never be truly lionised. They're at peace with that. If the USA goes fully authoritarian state he'll be erased, and you will hear only of the will of god.

You're caught in loops about replacing Biden as the far right could never be about replacing Trump. His kind are ten a penny, found in bars, and golf clubs, and brothels, all over the world, Farage's, Orban's, they're utterly replaceable. They lead only because that's what the paranoid religious cults, and democracy subverting neonazi groups of their home states primed them for. From the church to mobs of football hooligans. Nazi bars etc.

The president only works against the fascist threat if he is head of a broad coalition with a strong antifascist commonality.

If the Dems don't learn to mirror what Macron triggered and the left wing of France used people power to do, and combine that more successfully with a slightly diminished cult of the American president, the far right will take America.

Let the progressives have more power, broaden the candidacy, or you're fucked.

Shift right is so necessary for the oligarchs stooge, because if you created a new wholly neoliberal party from scratch, nobody would vote for that obvious trash.

So, what they do, is they find a light socialist party and seed it with insertionists, lobby stooges etc, even college age ones. Completely undermine authentic politicians.

They gradually take over said socialist party, kidnap their voter demographics, hold up the far right as a dire existential threat as often as possible.

The actual vote count starts when polls close, so in small areas that could be near close of business, others won't get cracking until after 8 pm, so those wanting to watch the devastation live will probably be up until the wee small hours, though let's face facts, the wrinting will be on the wall by about 11pm.

It's election day in the UK. The UK has odd rules about certain news hitting the media before the vote, so there's only yesterday's poll projection stuff to go on, even though many postal votes are in well ahead of time. The morning will be made up of old op eds, the last of the polls, and pointless shots of random buildings with signs saying " vote here" on them. The odd friendly dog etc. weather is ok so turnout should be good relative to politicians being oligarch stooges.

Americans may have a sense of that sort of thing, you know electoral colleges, and different states doing different stuff to prevent California dominating the politics of some dudes living in a population of 20 in the middle of a desert, except in Britain we mostly do all live pretty similar lives, finances notwithstanding, and can mostly hit each other with thrown rocks across most of the nation.

So yeah, it's broken.
