Guys who use “well you just remember stuff better than I do” as a reason not to do mental work around the house - please avail yourself of technology in your pocket that lets you keep a note for things that your brain can’t remember.

It took me far too long to start doing this and I still forget.

Something I’m contemplating as I head into 2026: What if checking Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, RSS feeds, Instagram, Threads, 4 Discords, writing a blog, barely maintaining a business website, live streaming randomly, and an email client with 3 inboxes isn’t the best way to be productive?

Not that I'm criticizing @binarydigit for the suggestions. They're valid. I can't even get *most* of my very online friends to agree on a single photo sharing thing, never mind all the normies in my life unless I forcibly paid for their own account on an app. 😆

I re-downloaded the Flickr app and it looks like it hasn't been updated from whenever Smugmug (?) bought them. It's really too bad because someone could've stewarded (ha! get it! Stewart? Butterfield? Anyone?) Flickr through to today would be able to offer a meaningful alternative to the IG algorithm.

But Flickr Pro is $11CAD/month. I can't convince normies to do that over IG.

Thus ends my experiment with Pixelfed. I need less places to go get distracted, not more. I really would love a central place to post photos and things to that isn't IG but I'm not up to the task of convincing everyone in my life to move anywhere.

I played a bit of Fortnite’s “Festival Main Stage” (think Rock Band or Guitar Hero style) game mode last night, and I don’t understand why Epic hasn’t started selling guitar and drum controllers again. It feels like a new generation is ready for them.
