I started reading through the Declaration of Independence with my 14-year-old last night and was amazed by a couple of things.

1. How true the document rings about our government today as it did about the king in 1776.
2. How cordially sarcastic and biting our forefathers were in the document. They were cordial, but they also issued some SOLID barbs in there.

@kaia do you remember the days when USB keyboards weren't detected until after POST, so you needed a wired mini DIN or DIN keyboard just to mess with the bios?

I'll just note, I'd prefer to organically meet someone IRL. I am going to different events, and also just doing stuff to make myself happy.

The problem is, there really aren't any IRL social connections I have to connect with people. No friends of friends that would be available, I don't go to church, etc.

This isn't me being an incel, fuck that, I'm gonna live my life regardless. It is just a sad state of social affairs really.

I decided to jump on the free version of a dating site. I filled out my profile completely and was almost happy to see I have received 70+ likes in a week.

Issue - NONE of these people are actually LOOKING at my profile because the first line in the profile basically says "I can't see likes because I'm on the free version, message me instead"

So they liked based on % profile question match without even bothering to learn about me.

Guess I'll only be logging in once a week unless I get a DM.

@CSB I personally have done 23andMe and Family Tree DNA. 23 and me was several years ago and primarily to help understand family links and ancestry. FTDNA was to do a deeper dive on my mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosome analysis

@CSB Give me a minute to look it up. 23 and Me shows one set of data, and when importing the DNA to FTDNA I think it is slightly different, but relatively aligned.

@CSB Sure, 1 minute. Hard to get all the expanded data on a single screen.

Also keep in mind I did this test 5-7 years ago and the tech has gotten better

@CSB That is true, but the DNA chip they tested with got better and could test for different SNPs. For example, I don't have a breakdown of my Eastern European heritage, even though I know there is Polish in there.

@CSB It doesn't give me any additional details. It just shows a small graphic saying "Explore Your Eastern European Heritage"

@CSB I honestly think it is because 23andMe just wants me to update to the newer test and get more money from me.

All the other sites I import the data to show more details.

@kaia I have days like this too. It's sometimes hard to acknowledge that one's mental or emotional health does not always allow for a productive day. It IS ok though. Just come back the next day and try again.
