@jacklaridian I've been toying with the idea of watching this, but it's hard to find time to watch horror movies in my house, and my Peacock sub includes ads.

Yesterday marked another anniversary of my birth, and my body celebrated my increasing decrepitude with some lower back and shoulder pain! It's the gift that keeps on giving!

That said, I ordered Summer's End and The Waking of Willowby Hall for #Knave as compensation.

I can't decide if overall I think The Acolyte was good or not. I will say, if it's a failure, it's an interesting one.

I really hate sports analytics that give win percentages. They're such BS. I'm watching the Vancouver vs. St Louis MLS match. AppleTV showed that Vancouver had ~52% chance of winning and ~22% chance of a draw. 12 minutes in and St Louis is up 2-0.

Sometimes you read an Internet thread in 2024, and it takes you back to simpler times. This morning, I read a new thread (yes, I checked the date) where people were earnestly and nerdily debating how the Enterprise would fare against an Imperial Star Destroyer (not well was the consensus opinion btw).

@multiverseofbadness The most they do online financially is buying from Amazon, so I'm not too worried. They literally write checks for their bills and either drop them off or mail them.

@multiverseofbadness I triaged it all over the phone while walking my dog. My mom was freaking out because MS was sending her phone 6-digit authentication codes via SMS for my Dad's email account, which he locked himself out of. I tried to explain SMS vs app-based 2FA, but I had to give up. Even though I explained the concept of 2FA several times, I don't think they got it.

I really appreciate 2FA, but I wish Microsoft hadn't enabled it on my elderly parent's accounts without telling them.

@jacklaridian @multiverseofbadness Some decamped to FB and IG, but I think most people went back to Twitter or just quit microblogging. Of the commercial Twitter-clones, I think they're all going to fail except for maybe Threads (but that's just because it's an extension of IG rather than it's own merits).

@jacklaridian @multiverseofbadness I've seen the BS numbers (sub 1M posts per day), but I didn't really experience them until I bridged my Fediverse account the other day and took a look at some BS accounts that I thought left here for there. They haven't posted in weeks or even months.

@multiverseofbadness Our previous couch and chair made it nearly 16 years, somehow.

For the most part, I'm glad I waited until my mid-30s to have kids, but having a 6-year old at almost 48 leads to a special kind of exhaustion!
