At the first (I believe) CocoaHeads after the 2016 elections we discussed software to help organize volunteers, etc. We used it to organize against trump and the Muslim Ban and so many more of his shenanigans. In the ensuing 8 years i’ve got a lot more experience with this kind of stuff.

If I were to guess, I think her Catholic Faith caused her to vote against her own interests.

I voted against my own self-interests, too. But I voted to raise my taxes to raise money for low-income housing. Not to elect a fascist.

The IDF released a video of what it says are the last moments of Yahya Sinwar. Very ill-advised IMHO. He’s in a bombed building. Injured. On a sofa. Covered in dust. One arm doesn’t work. A drone enters through a window. He sees it. Gathers his strength and with his other arm throws a stick at the drone. The drone calls in another strike and they bomb the building again killing him.

This video will likely spawn a next generation of Sinwars.

As any teacher will tell you, when working with kids one can see how their parents treat them.

Doing security during Sunday School. As the kids start filing in I’m flying (putting up) a tarp to protect myself from the blazing sun.

During recess a 8-year old girl comes up to me saying, “You got it up. Good job! I can see you worked very hard on this.”

Not “You’re so good at this.” But “you worked very hard on this.”

She’s wise beyond her years.

I learned (probably 10 years ago) that Xcode is not to be trusted with even basic version control (Git) tasks. Things haven’t changes as much as they should have since then.

When you’re a professional you owe it to yourself and your clients to use the best tool for your job that you can afford. When it comes to Git, Xcode ain’t it.

It boggles my mind how many people don’t get this. I’m helping organize a conference of 600 people. I’ve written a Flask Web App, web clients, iOS clients, QR code scanners etc.

In that vein Apple should create a new feature: “Pullover Mode”. Once engaged, all cameras and microphones should record to both device and Cloud. Pullover Mode can only be disabled by a passcode that’s different from the phone unlock code. The action button should support it.

Colloquially, we could call this feature the Reverse Body Cam.
