@LazaroDTormes I suppose it’s less of an idea and more of a tool; one that lulls people into a false sense of security, indoctrinates them with ideologies they use to control their own citizens/subjects in the nations they come, and coerces the colonised into perpetuating the bigotry with false promises of being redeemed.
Ghana tap danced and threw Ghanaian LGBTQIA folks under the bus at the behest of white American evangelicals and those same evangelicals won’t be doing a damn thing to help raise Ghana out from under the imperialist boot that is still firmly on the country’s neck… except offer their thoughts and prayers.
It’s wild how some Black folks will write off things as “a European invention” or “white people shit” then go on to do shit that furthers the legacy of white supremacy without a shred of irony.
@Guardian Argylle was a ridiculous, over-the-top, scarcely believable, action-packed, hilarious, and utterly fun film that, at times, overdoes it with the copious amounts of camp injected into quite a few scenes without unintentionally becoming a pantomime. 😂😁
It also looks a tad bit funny in the light when tribalism amongst men is discussed as if this isn’t a very similar phenomenon amongst women.
I suppose it’s a classic case of “accountability for thee, not for me” but it really does get tedious seeing people use their identity as a makeshift shield to deflect legitimate criticism of their behaviour as an individual.
So why do I always end up laughing when I hear the term “gold star lesbian?”
Because if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry. Nothing says “women supporting women” like women who put on their best girlboss/gaslight/gatekeep attire and denigrate other women because they’re not characters out of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s Herland.
No matter how many times I hear the term “gold star lesbian,” I break out into fits of uncontrollable laughter.
I’m not sure what form of superiority a so-called “gold star lesbian” is extrapolating here but it definitely tends to lead to some form gatekeeping and bisexual, pansexual, queer et al women tend to be the ones that catch the brunt of it.
The implication almost always seems to be that queer women must be kept separate from lesbians because most queer women don't date women exclusively like lesbians do; thus are not eligible to speak on issues that women who love women face.
To me, that just reeks of biphobic nonsense and is giving gatekeeper behaviour.
BREAKING: transphobic bigot who authored some YA books about wizards, witches, and “hook nosed” goblins that work in a bank says more transphobic bigoted nonsense that helps no one and advances nothing except a transphobic agenda.
It’s not even worth saying that dingbat’s name, to be perfectly honest with you. She’s boring, hate-filled, and seems to be implying that violent crimes committed are based on what kind of genitals you possess.
Because cis women would *never* even though they do, apparently.
Tonight marks Night Un of the three-night bæ grylls Cinema Binge.
This evening, I see what the fuss has been about regarding Argylle… and whether or not the Swifties are delusional about it having anything to do with their fave; of whom they obsess over in a very unhealthy manner.
I know it’s enraging to see propag- I mean press outlets like the New York Times disingenuously frame Aaron Bushnell’s self-immolation into yet another “Israelis are the real victims here” narrative but this *is* the same publication that put Bari Weiss & David Brooks on.
In that context, this isn’t surprising. This is just the New York Times reminding us of the agenda they unapologetically push and will not relent until everyone they’ve slandered is dead.
It seems inevitable that someone at the New York Times will release a book that contains crucial information about how dishonest, corrupt, and bloodthirsty certain Israeli officials are having sat on that information for a number of years.
It’s just so strange how the same people who insist that we all be heard work tirelessly to silence others.
Wild how hypocritical that is but it’s wilder how enough people remain silent while this double standard is enforced.
We really don’t have enough courageous people as part of the rearguard against clearly fascist movements in multiple parts of the world and the ones who are prepared to go to any lengths necessary to stop them? They are slandered or worse.
Remember when conservatives lied about being censored when they rightfully got the consequences for their bigoted actions with virtually nothing in the way of fact to substantiate their claims? Of course you do.
So seeing as just about everyone regardless of status or prominence is getting sacked, banned, or demoted for calling out the dishonest propaganda the Israeli government relentlessly disseminates, are we agreed that whatever conservatives claim is happening to them is actually happening to everyone else who is not them?
@abreaction You misunderstand: I never said or implied there was or is a worldwide system. I said that fascism rose to power in multiple regions and nations worldwide more than twice historically.
That implies it has happened independently of each instance, which it did (ex. Mussolini’s creation of fascism (or fascismo), and the rise of Nazi Germany) Churchill’s deep admiration for fascism and fascist leaders even though Britain never truly embraced that system of government at the time. See how influence doesn’t always translate to implementation?
So my point still stands. I’d invite you to address it as it was actually stated. 😘
