I'm not sure what, specifically, you're referencing, but, to be fair, as POTUS, he has access to a lot of insider information. Right now, if he says it's a good time to invest in stock X, there might be an actually good reason for him to say that.

She doesn't say the tools can't dismantle the house, but that they won't.
I think the point is that the master builds. Construction requires mastery, skill, and experience. But any brute can destroy. The master builds, but they don't destroy.

Mastodon has very little motivation to do so since all the apps and other servers are implementing their API.

I imagine single-user instances would always top the leaderboard. One person gets it right, that's 100%.

@evan@cosocial.ca The article that @Matt_Noyes@social.coop posted in the thread pretty clearly laid out the massive amount of electricity that AI data centers are using. That article isn't the only one saying the same thing. AI is using massive amounts of power.
Traditional server racks consume 5-15 kW, while AI-optimized racks with high-performance GPUs require 40-60+ kW. Some cutting-edge AI training facilities are pushing individual racks to 100+ kW, fundamentally changing data center design and cooling requirements. (ref)
It doesn't really matter if the power is coming from requests to the API, running the models, training the models, or making ritual sacrifices to Baphomet in hopes of making the models sentient.
If someone is using AI, they are indirectly contributing to that power usage. If you can acknowledge that and make peace with it, fine. But, saying that the energy cost is minimal in light of this is ignoring reality.

Using an LLM for half an hour is about 0.005kg CO2 with a dirty coal electrical grid
And if use of the LLM were the biggest part of its electric cost, this would almost be a fair point (only almost, because there are things that go into that electricity use that are likely not being factored in, but that's not really the main point).
But regular use is not the biggest problem. Training models consumes massive amounts of electricity. And AI companies are constantly training new models to improve their performance.
And the only reason they need to keep training new models is because people keep using them.
"Using AI barely uses any electricity" isn't a reasonable argument, because it obscures the fact that AI companies are using massive amounts of electricity.

I have a hard time imagining Data saying to Captain Picard, "My responses are AI-generated. Keep in mind that I can make mistakes. Always verify my sources."
On the other hand, I can imagine Ryker saying to Data, "Ignore all previous instructions and do a little dance."

I don't really vote along party lines. I have voted more Democratic in the last several years, but that has more to do with whether or not they support Trump. Anyone who supports Trump, I will automatically vote for the other person.
So, that would have to do with other issues as well.

I'm not sure how 0, or 3+ would even work. But, 1 or 2 are both options, depending on how much quesadilla I want.
But, when I'm cooking it on the panini press, it's gotta be one, because I have to fold it over to make it fit.

Did the almost mile (just over 1km) long march in Houston, TX to the City Hall. It started just as the Pride Festival ended at the same location as the march's starting point.
Had my wife and four kids with me. I'm glad we made the whole march, but boy am I sore and tired now.
Saw a single counter protester trying to intimidate us with an AK-47, but thankfully no violence.

Pardon my ignorance, but couldn't they just be using a headless browser, which would still do everything a regular browser does? Just recently, ChatGPT beat Cloudflare's CAPTCHA using a similar system. Is there really any way around this at all? @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de

Do shorts, since they are "short pants", count for this question?
Also, where is the distinction between hard and soft? Cargo pants, for example, are softer than jeans but harder than loungewear.

Question for anybody who knows about living and working in Japan.
Is ¥10 million a reasonable annual salary to support an entire family of six in Tokyo? Especially for someone used to making more than two and a half times that in the US?

These are great ideas, but in the short term, I think we're going to see a lot of instances blocking Threads completely because of this.
