@evan Since I already have my own servers at home I have been ramping up my research and playing with locally hosted LLM’s, one project (that is currently waiting for me to have more time to work on its next phase is: https://github.com/scanner/booklore
@evan My coworkers insisted I take the day off.. but I had a bee in my bonnet about some code so I am fixing that.. B-) Tonight is some excellent BBQ from a joint just down the street: https://redwoodcitybbq.com .. the real dinner is on Friday night at La Fondue (https://www.lafondue.com)
Today is my birthday. Ever since I was young, starting about 5 years old from what I can recall, my internal definition for what "old" was, was 60 years. If they were 50, 40, 30, 18.. they were not “old people."
Today I turned 60 and this is really the first age-based change in perception of myself. I feel like an old person.
(BTW: I also think of myself as more liberal than ever, but self perceptions blind us to our own biases.)
@evan Oh, you mean like.... TAXES?! (where they do not get to pick and choose how the money is deployed, except like all the rest of us do: via elections…)
@evan I remember this one gaming site that uses a bunch of frames and a Java app in the top bar to control the whole rest of the frame.. and man.. getting that Java app to work and be signed and… >_<
https://www.penzeys.com/shop/about-republicans/ “we’re done pretending the Republican Party’s embrace of cruelty, racism, Covid lies, climate change denial, and threats to democracy are anything other than the risks they legitimately are”
@evan when I write systems that conform to protocols what I find the most distressing is no way to test except pointing it at various production services. This is a problem that can be solved and is the sort of thing that would help people like me who poke at things in a deep sort of way.
Can I get some boosting for employment? I am an accomplished developer. I am most familiar with Python, although I have probably programmed in more languages than most developers are exposed to these days. I totally suck at the google-based interviews asking me to solve some abstract problem in less than an hour (okay, I admit it, I am a slow programmer.. I prefer to use the term "careful.”) - Any help is appreciated in this job market. https://www.linkedin.com/in/scanner/
