I'm kind of alarmed and unhappy that so many of the "trans-positive" posts I see boil down to fetishism and bioessentialism.
e: This isn't a subtoot, I'm still thinking about a couple posts I saw on Tumblr a few weeks ago.

@freemo It's from "G.O.A.T.", Greatest Of All Time, used a couple years ago to refer to... I don't actually remember which basketball player, and then Gamers picked it up and decided to make it weird. You usually see it in combination, like "based and goated".
I wish I lived in the world where "goated" referred to furry tf instead of being ridiculous slang for "I like this somewhat"
@Polychrome *points at Microsoft Word 2000's Clippy* game
(Lance Ulanoff is the "William Shatner couldn't find me on Mastodon" guy, and it's fun to make fun of him.)
TechRadar's article about the OpenAI solving basic math thing is by Lance Ulanoff, so it's probably wrong.
Tired: "You've heard of Elf on the Shelf--"
Wired: Elf on the Shelf was invented less than twenty years ago and was cynically marketed as "a Christmas tradition" from the start in order to manipulate parents and children
@Polychrome @brion I know, right? Intellectually I know how old I am, but my subconscious is still convinced I'm about 20.
@brion Most of 1996 and earlier was closer to the *60s* than to today
Thinking about how the common media idea of 18-year "generations" is pretty flawed; I'm part of a minigeneration, for instance, born roughly 1975-1979, that's too old to have Millennial Experiences but too young to have really participated in a lot of the Gen X cultural touchstones, and which is broadly ignored - even more so than Gen X as a whole - by cultural commentators.
oh no, this family that makes more than ten times the median US income is going to pay 3% more of their income in taxes, clearly this is a problem that you, the working poor, should start a revolution about
Someone pointed out:
Retired couple: $52,000 in investment income
ACS median household income in the US, 2012: $51,731
Remember back in 2012 when the Wall Street Journal wanted us to feel bad for these people because their taxes were going up?
Every so often my mind feeds me, out of nowhere, the fact that "scale", "scale", and "scale" are not only not the same word but are entirely unrelated.
Golly
Good night, fedi. Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other. Remember: we don't have to reiterate the rest of the internet. We can be thoughtful people here.
Remembering the time a professional journalist whined that Mastodon was inaccessible to the average user because my guide was hosted on Github, ***a site for programmers*** ๐ฑ
#mastoadmin Call for help! If you've run into this error after updating to Mastodon 4.1.3, how have you solved it?
(PLEASE do not reply with speculation, googled results, etc. I ONLY want to hear from people who have solved THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM. I have tried many things, and I am looking for a solution, not for suggestions.)
