@br00t4c We won't abandon it, but when you sustain multiple injuries that knock you over, knock the wind out of you, & make you lose your balance all at once, you need a minute to regroup. I haven't felt so stunned & broken since my husband died! That said, the Democratic "machine" make SO many mistakes the last several years, they really need to reflect & evaluate who Democrats are supposed to be. Our message has really strayed.
@br00t4c I find a lot of these 'analytical' articles crass & distasteful. We're talking about an incredibly important moment in our history, but the author uses street language like "their haul", as if (unfortunately necessary) fundraising is like a bank robbery or smash-&-grab burglary. It demeans the almost life/death seriousness of this race, imo.
@dalfen I can't say TFG is an atheist, because actual atheists have put time, thought & effort into coming to that conclusion. I can say, as someone who has been aware of him since about 1970, that he has never given any thought or care to anything that didn't directly benefit himself, nor has he ever "believed" in anything or anyone but himself. He definitely doesn't think there's any entity more divine than himself.
@bmacDonald94 I loved his music & lyrics, he was fantastic live. And I acknowledge that he had many insightful things to say... but I also think we, as a species overall, have learned (or acknowledged/accepted) a helluva lot of things that were still hidden, denied, accepted or encouraged in the 60's. I only really began to realize what my childhood had done to me when I was in my 30's. But wherever we find our gurus, we're lucky we did.
@bmacDonald94 He was brilliant, but he definitely could be harsh. It was SO much before we were 'granted permission' to acknowledge that some (or many) of our foibles & challenges were direct results of flawed parenting, or medical issues that were years away from being acknowledged, much less addressed! I'm a product of that in some ways. And I didn't deserve that. Frank should have stuck to music, left psychoanalysis alone.
@br00t4c In medicine, fentanyl has been used for decades for pain control. Fentanyl patches for cancer or terminally ill patients was not uncommon... and clearly, the medication was in contact with the skin, & was not deadly. Hysteria is never a good partner for facts.
@bmacDonald94 I had the distinct honor of meeting him in 1969, in college, and being one of a small group of students who built a geodesic dome with him, on campus.
