In tech, there's a lot of anti-Chinese sentiment (Have you seen John Gruber's posts on the topic?) without the acknowledgement that without China, none of the devices we have here would be built. Without the global South for that matter. It's an inherently xenophobic (and nationalistic) stance that encourages states to organize themselves to INCREASE the chances of AAPI communities being harmed by disease (especially when the governments have been weakened by the states under which corporations are chartered - every company works indirectly as a branch of economic military).

It's sad.

There's nothing to be gained (today) by the media (and Democrats) admitting how much they've enabled right-wing behavior (it's profitable and great for talking-and-not-doing-anything)
