    @enigmatico it all started with investors thinking its the next big thing and now I think they're hoping for a random breakthrough that'll make these things either cost effective or better, achieve the General Intelligence dream/nightmare/both that'll make everyone either very rich, very powerful or very dead.

    Thankfully the latter probably won't happen with this type of technology but it can very well sell the illusion of achieving it which is possibly even worse.

    I think I should rewire this place to carry DC power directly to fixed LED lighting instead of buying LED light bulbs with self contained cheap transformers that end up failing after a couple of months. :bloblamp:

    @jns I played with OpenCroquet when it was just starting and being new to Squeak I barely understood what I was doing but it was clearly something new and ahead of its time. Years later the company I worked at looked into OpenCobalt so I got to test it out but the project leads decided to go with another option.

    Things are weird now. On the one hand we finally got the option of getting consumer VR in the home. On the other hand with PCs getting sidelined in favor of corporate controlled consumption devices like smartphones and tablets it feels like an open system like this may be ignored by the mainstream.
