The idea that millions of millions of Americans being racist and loving racism and responding enthusiastically to it is not ever on the table, even as the evidence that this happens to be true is overwhelming and inescapable.

he premise: Trump can't possibly be racist, not if millions and millions of people support him. The premise I guess being it would be impossible for millions and millions of people to support a racist, because that would suggest that millions and millions of people are racist.

The normal one here is Donald Trump, who is framed not as a racist, but somebody under attack from accusations of racism, accusations that are entirely baffling despite many relevant examples. The one who has to explain themselves is anyone suggesting that a racist is a racist.

What's extraordinary about this is that it's all just assumed. Republicanism (or American Nazism) is normal because it has to be normal, because if it wasn't normal we'd have a lot of things to unpack and fix and solve, and that might get us into time and money.

Nazism is on the ballot this year, and people who consider themselves Nazis know it, even if so many of the rest of us seem not to want to.

So it came to pass that Nazis came to the pro-Trump boat show last week.

They're only the most recent Nazis.

However the election goes, it’s hard to know what we do about living in a country with tens of millions of people, many of them family and neighbors, who have been permanently brainwashed out of observable reality and into a state of eager racist violence by Reality Show Hitler.

And frankly hard to know what to do with those we know aren’t brainwashed but are willing to go along with Nazism.

I think if you tell a lie so toxic that a network that had promised not to correct any of your lies nevertheless feels morally obligated to do so, the whole event should be paused while a giant red L is painted on your forehead and you should have to do the rest of the debate like that.

By refusing to fact-check CBS isn't just enabling lies, it is inviting them and incentivizing them.

It's grimly funny that a bunch of people decided that Trump's "very fine people on both sides" comments wasn't designed to defend Nazis based on nothing but a bullshit Snopes apologia and now Trump is out there openly promoting the exact same narrative the Nazis are chanting.

Unfortunately, it can't be only funny; Trump and his gang are engaged in some shockingly evil rhetoric even for them—promising that, for the crime of existing while undesirable to conservatives, as many people as possible will be hurt, as soon and as badly as possible.

Last Tuesday Don Trump shat his pants on national TV. Ever since, he's been scooting his butt around on the national carpet to dislodge the detritus of loserdom. It's standard narcissist self-care behavior. It would be nice if all of this could be *only* funny.

What happened is that Vance's boss, Republican presidential candidate/pants shitter Don Trump, energizes his base by promising to deport 15 million people, which is a thing that has never before been done without concentration camps and genocidal mass murder entering the picture.

That wasn't good enough for our nation's "conservative" political party, which is a white supremacist party of religious bigots. If you doubt this claim, I will refer you to the party's Vice Leader, the gimlet-eyed adult Cabbage Patch doll and fascist-of-opportunity J.D. Vance.

There is a town, name of Springfield OH, and it was a declining town—declining since the 60s. But Haitian immigrants were willing to come, and fill the jobs that were there to fill.

"Adding humans" is what makes a declining town stop declining, in case you didn't know that.

Eventually the lie found itself being repeated by Don Trump at the debate:

"They are eating the dogs, and they're eating the cats, and they're eating the pets of the people who live there."

Which is interesting, because the Haitian immigrants ARE "the people who live there."

In the Nazi internet, Vance found a vile racist lie about the Haitian immigrants in Springfield, and he told it all over the place, and he's still telling it now.

It's a lie. It's a vile lie. There is no evidence that any of it is true. None.

And Vance is nothing if not a good little gold star seeking grade grubber who would sell out his own family for wealth and power, so he went and found a lie that was bubbling up from the more hateful corners of the internet, the places where Vance's sort of people can be found.
