@horse That cuts out some steps. But I'm on FB so infrequently and it really is hostile architecture at this point. Every time I come back it's less and less accessible or intuitive. And to me that's by design.

I'm barely on FB but opted out of Meta's using my content to train their generative AI.

You have until June 26 to do so.

This 11-step process by Deborah Copaken, is a godsend.

Because of course Meta makes the opt out process intentionally obtuse + hostile in the hopes you quit from attrition.

Including burying the lede, the links, and even adding non-mandatory steps in the process to confuse you into thinking you need them.

When the NYC subway has a domino-effect breakdown and I have to walk 40 blks home over a 2.5 hour trip that usually takes me 40 minutes, I'm less upset at the MTA's aging and crumbling infrastructure, and most incensed at the NYPD's $11 billion dollar (and rising) annual budget.

It's time for people to connect the breakdowns in service at their libraries, parks, public schools, the DMV etc w/the local police budgets disproportionately growing and holding our towns and cities hostage.

It feels like "he who shall not be named" kayfabe that's a holdover from how one was algo-conditioned to post on an increasingly toxic Twitter.

Is still referring to Twitter "the bird app" a residual flinch reflex by former (and current) users not wanting to be searchable there so gave it cute nicknames to replace "Twitter"? Or something else?

I've never felt so seen before.
