@dyckron That's exactly what grinds my gears, the double standard when it should be the other frickin' way around. Either cops are exemplars who should be trusted even when they're manifestly lying (and therefore should be held to high standards), or they're thugs who do the dirty work that "must be done" so cut them some slack.

Or my favorite, they're no more responsible for their actions than predatory wild animals.

Someone call the burn unit of this misogynist's local hospital. They're going to need to call in all their off-duty people just to keep him alive.

@JuliusGoat The IDF's actions become easier to understand when you find out constant from-childhood propaganda has conditioned them to consider every soul in Gaza "Hamas".

A child picking up a bag of flour? Must be collecting it for Hamas.
A pregnant mother? Future Hamas.
A doctor trying to save a dismembered child from bleeding out? Hamas supporter.
A reporter filming it? Hamas sympathizer.
People from other countries trying to stop them from starving all of Gaza to death? Hamas defenders.

@Mary625 @freemo Thank you -- my mom's advice* of "Sometimes if you can't laugh you'll cry" has been one of the things keeping me sane through this madness, and I was hoping it wasn't just me who found the imaginary convo amusing. 🙃

(The closer I get to the cry end of the equation, the worse my humor gets as I strain to keep pretending it's all funny.)

@freemo @Mary625 Just my two cents: Considering that the number of people who now identify as independent (i.e. "sick of both parties") already exceeded the number who identify with either dems or reps years ago…
and at this point, likely exceeds them both combined…
I think the only thing stopping a third party candidate from winning, is that too many of us listened for decades to corporate-owned media repeatedly telling us "Third parties can't win". 😏

There's zero chance Meta has any interest in anything but kneecapping their competition and/or buying it up to destroy it. It's become a time-honored tactic under robber-baron capitalism.

@Gargron Just curious, not a rhetorical question: Does it matter at all how aggravating some aspects of the new interface are, or Don't Question Progress?

For one really annoying example, the impossibility of seeing more than a couple of lines of emojis at a time when replying.
