Eh?
@kaia Imagine not having a keyboard that you can easily unscrew and use a soldering iron to replace the broken LED. :gnulightened:
@kaia I love it when you can't distinguish between "1", "I" and "l" easily.
@kaia Fake news, lack of stroopwafels and negerzoenen.
@kaia Just saying... :gnulightened:
@kaia Instructions unclear, dropped the first 'n' instead.
@kaia >Me, an intellectual: *just calls it Twitter anyways* :gnulightened:
@kaia This video summarized is basically: "Java is bad for performance" XDD
@kaia Get stronk thighs so you can squish his head like any man wants.
w8wat.
@kaia Yea some of those cases I've seen made me go "what the actual fuck?"
Like that e-girl that doesn't pay taxes and instead invested all her money in a setup that has 0 ROI or keeps paying for other's food while she's already broke af. :gnulightened:
@kaia In all fairness, I always see psychoactive medication as a *tool* you can use to control the symptoms while you fix the underlying issues.
It's like putting a cloth on an arterial bleed.
Sure, it'll make the bleeding slow down but you should have it get stitched up.
@lanodan Assuming that with "public funding" you mean like "government grants" (using tax money), I don't think it should be treated the same per se.
With crowdfunding, you choose what to fund yourself.
You give them money, they return you the promise of thing you fund for.
You could choose to not fund it if you wish to.
With a grant, it's chosen by someone else, so the "money source" should be allowed to know what their money is being used on and use it as they see fit, hence an open license.
@kaia An RTX 6000 Ada costs about 11K over here.
Assuming a price of 2 euro per pic, that'll be around 5500 euro.
However, if you then use that RTX6000 Ada to train a model based off your already sold feet picks, you could just generate more pics easily and make an ROI on it.
@kaia No need to completely cancel him, just turn on adblockers and all that shit until he fixes his garbage.
@feld I am glad that outside some meetings where I practically could take a nap, the amount of customers I had to deal with was extremely low. (most of my work involved internal matters).
@feld r.i.p.
Can't say I've ever had a project that ate away that much disk space either.
Yea ok, one time I had a rainbow table creation project (basically distributed rainbow table computing).
That _did_ kinda chew at my storage.
@feld tbf, can't say I've ever seen a MySQL install corrupt itself over my 12 years of use. :gnulightened:
@kaia I don't know the language you're working in but yea... that is generally the way to go.
Functions help keeping your code "DRY" ("Don't Repeat Yourself").
Classes can help with SRP ("Single Responsibility Principle") where 1 class does 1 thing and is very good at it.
As for the "how do you know what each returns: In most languages, you can define that and most editors will be able to show it.
In the screenshot here, my function returns an instance of the "ReponseBuilder".

Is there a particular reason why PostgreSQL is so popular among Fediverse?
I'm not against PostgreSQL or anything but I'm just wondering why there's no MySQL/MariaDB (which I'm more familiar with).
Agreed.
