Need some help from #Linux folks to get the #Itch app working.

For some reason it's simply not running on my #UbuntuMATE install. If I try to start it manually in terminal, it gives no errors. There was a switch I added to the command some time ago and put it in a launcher on my top bar, but that got deleted by accident and I can't remember what it was.

I'm hoping someone can help me reconstruct it or figure out an alternative.

Note this is the app downloaded from Itch's website. It may be that getting rid of it and using Flatpak might be better, although I'm seeing where people have trouble with that too for various reasons.

A couple of days ago, I saw someone recommending a service or site or something where you put their site name in front of the URL of a cooking blog entry, and it would strip out all the SEO stuff and serve you the page with just the recipe on it. I tried it out and it worked pretty good.

Trouble is, I can't remember what the name was. It was like cooking.wiki or something similar to that. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

This just baffles me (seen on Tumblr).

Don't people remember that as bad as Musk screwed it up, Twitter was *still a garbage dump* before he bought it? Do people remember when they tried to sell it a few years before and it fell through because there were *too many Nazi accounts*?

Gamergate was carried out in large part on Twitter. Large scale harassment campaigns. They periodically did something about the worst of the white supremacists, but it never lasted, and many operated with impunity.

What exactly has Bluesky done to proactively prevent the same from happening on the new service? Anything?

Yeah, it's shiny and new and familiar-ish. But that tarnish is gonna wear off fast, I'd wager, and the new social media smell will give way to more rank odours.

Holy crap, there's now a Community Edition version of Brogue! There's a dedicated group doing bugfixes, improving the code and adding quality of life improvements. It's quite good, and great to see my favourite #oldschool #Roguelike getting that kind of love.

Actual artists on Artstation, fed up with AI generators scraping their work, started posting "no AI" logos (the classic circle with a line through it) in protest.

And since "trending on Artstation" has become a common prompt among AI users, their results are all getting contaminated, as the algorithm just assumes the logos are part of the image. They're all upset about the "attack" now.
