No prosecutor in the United States has not participated in enforcing the drug war.

Disqualifying all former prosecutors from public service would prevent libertarians from voting for a candidate who changed their position and supports legalizing cannabis.

    How sad would that be?

@Beeks your advice is noted and disregarded, I'll vote for the Libertarian candidate for President as I have in every election since 2000.

Trump has been worse for individual liberties than Biden by a great margin.

Harris is pro-choice on cannabis and abortion, two longstanding libertarian political priorities.

Equivocation is lazy and it benefits the worse of two options.

That's why low-key MAGA supporters are so eager for it.

Nicholas J. Sarwark, 45, an attorney who chaired the Libertarian National Committee from 2014 until 2020 and now lives in Manchester, N.H., called Trump “a unique and somewhat malignant force” and said he’s “cautiously optimistic” that Harris will defeat Trump at the ballot box. Sarwark said he plans to vote for Oliver, not Harris.

“I’m still a Libertarian,” he said. “The fact that a bunch of people who aren’t Libertarians have taken over the party and called themselves Libertarians does not mean that I change who I am.”

    This election is asymmetrical.

Most campaigns wants to do all the things they can to win votes without violating standards of character and decency.

One campaign wants to do all the things they can to win because losing the election means prison time.

    Don't vote for a loser.

If you live in New Hampshire, you ought to vote for Joyce Craig for Governor because she's not a secessionist and will legalize cannabis.

“Regardless of the direction of causation—whether corporations seek rents, and turn away from making better, cheaper products, or whether politicians sell rents as a way of accumulating power and influence—capitalism in a democracy is precarious. There must be rules, preferably at the constitutional level, that limit the ability of government to pick winners and losers, and to use subsidies or industrial policy to increase the accounting profits of corruption.”

It’s a split between the gullible and the critical thinking people this election cycle.

If you need to believe bullshit to be happy, you’re not on the same team as people who care about the truth.

“In its heyday, the Dyess project unquestionably had a positive impact on its cooperators. A 1939 study recorded high satisfaction with Dyess’s “school, health, and library systems.” The colony’s first farmer, Harve Smith, told a reporter in 1938: “It’s the best proposition a poor man ever had… Here, they’ve given a man a chance when it looked like no one else would.”

Only a certain type of poor man, however, was offered this proposition. In addition to economic requirements, an eligible farmer had to be (as one historian summarized) “under fifty, a resident of Arkansas, and a member of the white race.” Dyess was, after all, located in the Jim Crow South, and even New Deal programs outside the South were often racially exclusionary. Black workers were eligible for federal construction jobs in Dyess Colony, but they slept in segregated barracks and were ineligible to live in the community they helped build.”

“As Rudy Giuliani’s daughter, I’m unfortunately well-suited to remind Americans of just how calamitous being associated with Trump can be, even for those who are convinced he’s on their side. Watching my dad’s life crumble since he joined forces with Trump has been extraordinarily painful, both on a personal level and because his demise feels linked to a dark force that threatens to once again consume America. Not to disregard individual accountability in the slightest, but it would be naive for us to ignore the fact that many of those closest to Trump have descended into catastrophic downward spirals. If we let Trump back into the driver’s seat this fall, our country will be no exception.”

“Back in 1963, my mother and father arrived at the Ryman Auditorium’s Grand Ole Opry in Nashville at a time when the state’s Jim Crow laws required it to be segregated. They were dressed in a gown and tux respectively, driven in an antique Rolls-Royce by a white couple dressed as chauffeur and maid. The white couple were fellow activists and friends from the Unitarian church. The “chauffeur” got out and opened the back door to escort my glamorous parents past the crowd at the entrance. He handed someone a $100 bill to park the car, the maid following close behind.”

“Lord Acton would have us believe that it takes absolute power to corrupt absolutely. But even the dream of the vice presidency—that “bucket of warm piss” in the immortal words of Vice President John Nance Garner—will do the trick, if you are the right kind of person.

By which, of course, I mean the wrong sort of person—the wrong sort to wield power. You can send little J.D. to Yale to make him polished, you can send him to Silicon Valley to make him rich, and you can send him to the Senate to make him powerful, but you cannot stop him from being what it is he apparently wants to be: Cleetus the Gap-Toothed Twitter Troll.”
