Do you use VSCode (or presumably something like VSCodium)? Do you want to try out a local AI coding assistant?
Well, the software for that is now readily available:

Personally I kinda love the melodramatic terminology coming out of AI:
* Forgetting previous training -> "Catastrophic Forgetting"
* The AI made something up -> "Hallucinations"
* AGI not doing what I wanted -> "AI Apocalypse"
Is Texas doing the state equivalent of the whole sovereign citizen thing?
I have what I can only assume is an AI texting me. It started out with what appeared to be a wrong number, so I replied that this was the wrong number.
That triggered it texting me twice daily trying to become my buddy, including off the wall anecdotes from a definitely fake life.
It might be a more traditional spammer, but it is saying stuff that no human would say.
As someone with aphantasia, being able to conjure up low quality images of just about anything in mere moments is revolutionary.
Can you all really just do this in your head?
@Moon @icedquinn @thendrix @waifu Turn it off and on again.
Works like a charm.
Many of the defects of AI are really reflections of our own behavior.
For instance, the hallucinations and the doubling down on them come from the training data. It's full of humans talking authoritatively. Sure, there is the occasional expression of doubt or ignorance, but the vast majority of the time the human voice is speaking confidently, so it mirrors that confidence.
It's natural to not know something or make a mistake on occasion, but it learned that there are no mistakes.
@Computer Friend Computer, I have started on my mandatory resolution already! I hope that these dreams of a brighter future are within that approved parameters so that they may be accepted. I submit them for your approval!
@Computer Thank you friend computer, I will be more vigilant about synchronizing my clock with the central clock in the future!
@wakame Of course, microservices aren't a silver bullet (since there are no silver bullets).
In particular, they tend to push complexity from code/development and into sysadmin/operations. This leads to the automation of operations and thus devops.
The paradigm also gets a lot of misuse and improper use, which attracts undue criticism.
Also, even if it turns out it's not what you're looking for, the lessons learned would be important to the development of your concept.
@wakame I'm pretty sure you're looking for Microservices.
If you haven't already, go read the classic book on it:
https://samnewman.io/books/building_microservices_2nd_edition/
You can find it at most public libraries. It's definitely worth a read.
As a father of a newborn, I haven't been so much getting "breaks" as "pauses to get other essential work done".
@ned Why not give these new units different names to differentiate them from the old system?
Second and minute in particular come from the degree-based rotation system that the use of base 60 comes from.
@icedquinn That sounds like the best birthday ever!
Which holidays do you personally celebrate?
@alpine_thistle Agreed, it is definitely a good idea. It helps you and puts you in a position to help others.
Here in the Midwest, this kind of basic prep is part of the local culture.
However, my coworkers (developers from all over) are often totally unprepared for disaster. I remember one year one of them was heading to go buy peanut butter and bread as a blizzard was just getting started, in case their power went out.
What's the best digital art pen for Linux?
Here is today's AI generated spread!
Prompt: best quality, What will happen tomorrow?, random, symbolism, tarot
I guess that makes it tomorrow's spread.
