Yes. With note that experience s with PDF say it would be 2nd best as a source since line breaks or copying pasting from seemed hazardous and actually deliberately messing with content when actually pasted so the more basic HTML the better to avoid that, but yes that is the basic idea.

Ok a quick reset to make it clear:

I now see in form of your page output (see pictured) similarly from posts.

Preferably offline output but even online like you have (which I don't have resources or ability for) means I'd be able to take my posts and work offline as media and text in easy / basic way to view.

You have skills and answers already. You know what you're doing with files / process. You've done it before.

I would like that to happen in similar way for my file and maybe you could process it to have it output without much trouble apart from motivation / wanting me to learn parts.

I'm maybe missing the part of learning it all and coming from minimal / backward position, but apart from that you could do it faster / easier / whenever if you feel if you saw it as beneficial.

Yep looks good as place to output online. But could this be offline output and not online webspace (or maybe both offline as backup and online). Like in emergency could you view things?

The outbox.json had the sent messages a bit like an email outbox file and fairly readable in plain text / without tools as one long scroll.

Would be nice cleaned up by a small tool / program. ⚒️

And about importing post theoretically in future (Sorry muted was wrong word and it still might be an incomplete idea) I meant posts are added "unlisted" and only when people look at profile they would they see or could search in future (if feature existed)... if not probably all servers adding a flag to say "all these posts are being imported" so "ignore in these way" but yeah if that doesn't work and is not close to workable, skip this idea.

@freemo An archive from 2018 (which I left Fedi from frustration) was similar .tar.gz compressed file with a .tar file inside (so another compressed file) and then uncompressed that has JSON* files inside as listed below...

Regarding potential spam on any importing (if you could) - Yeah I was thinking how the spam would be managed, but then I thought simply "how about muted import?" so imported posts would show but unannounced (seems possible but perhaps not across all software).

But overall anyway I assumed INcorrectly and was wrong - so you can't move posts at all top another server and perhaps only save them locally and read them by "Activity compliant software"... wherever / whatever that is!

@freemo A quick visit to settings/export page or https://qoto.org/settings/export tells me yes, toots are included.

So I wonder maybe what "compliant software" exists to read this *.tar.gz archive...

Settings/export page says:
"You can request an archive of your toots and uploaded media.
The exported data will be in the ActivityPub format, readable by any compliant software."

The setting/export page has also personal details showing user what is for for archive (I assume all of it or perhaps CSV lists marked below you have to do manually)

Follows 1 CSV
Lists 1 CSV
Followers 1
You block 1 CSV
You mute 1 CSV
Domain blocks 1 CSV

(1's in stats are just for example)

❓ Question is about Exporting messages / toots to archive and reading it elsewhere somehow.
Even just text without media.
I'm not a programmer but could follow some steps if tested by someone to work or program made.

I almost don't want to offer help but it's in my nature (I'm aware offering can just occupy time or your real needs)...
but I can hop into a Jitsi chat 🎤 almost anytime... probably to give you a contrast or temporary different scenery more than any correct way (so you work it out using someone dumber and seeing 'not that' which I don't mind being the one serving!)

More thought maybe by you needed on what's healthy / needed but I think you should really trust me and time is passing too. Time is now sir and sharing the load is more fun! I'd love to do it all myself if we can iterate and find some things- I have such a good opportunity now... and you can get your word out through me to help what you need...

@freemo I kinda unlocked something today of this kind of understanding and almost it's better if blocked... I felt great and like I didn't need both try making friends...
Takes a certain nature so better earlier without looking for it eitehr... I have a list at the moment but it's so obvious.

I personally think to do something about it in a light way to highlight basically communication problem stuffing everything online... (pretty much since emails)... or somehow 'this' is what needs fixing before anything else on top...

@freemo Sounds good in it's specific use case. Most may have never experienced any of that.

Would it be true to say not much has changed with HAM radio in the sense that even the minimals can achieve the keeping people alive and safe in disaster situations? So maybe it didn't need so much more in evolution to provide same thing which also might help it not really needing much more to it... ?

@freemo It's true I did misunderstand. And seems less useful now overall (maybe #2 even that but that might be moved on in it's own way once it's mostly 'done')
But I'll not claim I know anything... just seems less need by public, naturally evolved / obsolete or simply "replaced" more than anything else to make it popular. Again pinch of salt on the HAM topic for what I say...
