@ramonita @silberfuchs wish I knew this when I was a teen
@mutualist who know? Maybe we'll see her support Kurdish independence in the future
@mutualist was she lecturing? These Kurds have their own Green-ecological political tradition
@miiamustang fair
@mutualist what's particularly disappointing here?
Greta will not be Climate Stalin as much as the eco-Leninists want her to be, she's more likely going to be Bookchin v2
APOIST GRETA ANY% HERE WE GO
@mutualist From the telegram:
🔥Greta Thunberg meets with DEM Party co-mayor of Amed, North Kurdistan
Yesterday, climate justice activist Greta Thunberg, known for spearheading the Fridays4Future ecological youth movement, met with Serra Bucak co-mayor for the DEM Party on the city of Amed in North Kurdistan. During the meeting, views on the impact of climate change and global warming on nature were exchanged.
In recent years, Greta Thunberg has combined her ecological activism with the defence of the rights of oppressed peoples, such as Palestinians, Armenians and Kurds. This has cost her the support of most of mainstream media and political institutions, but despite that the young Swedish activist continues her struggle unabated.

Greta in North Kurdistan (in Türkiye) and having meeting with Apoists/democratic confederalists was NOT on my bingo card for 2024.

@diedofheartbreak @cedar nah. He ain't ecological if you dig deep enough
If Climate Stalin exists, it would become necessary to abolish her.
What's really funny is that in the Philippines I see explicitly fascist (anti-communist, anti-anarchist, etc.) groups do mutual aid and direct action. It really is a total cultural victory for the anarchists.
Total anarchist cultural victory.
Can't disrespect this game tbh.
@passenger that's really cool. Where did they say that? I haven't heard of that author yet.
@ciggysmokebringer That's perhaps their saving grace.
@ch0ccyra1n I would agree with you yeah, but I think you missed the point of like the problem with Climate Stalin. Climate Stalin is a hypothetical messianic figure that would lead the proletariat out of climate crisis and institute a reign of terror over Shell, BP, Trump, whomever.
What I'm more concerned about is the carceral and authoritarian implications about such messianism, as in its desire to deploy spectacular violence against the people destroying the world, and then think about the contours of an abolitionist ecology. How do we salvage the climate and our species without resorting to police, prisons, executions, etc.? Especially within the context that this kind of carcerality has never been used to liberate?
@ciggysmokebringer Those are posers and are already dime a dozen all over the world. I think the more interesting problem would to think of Climate Stalin in terms of great man theory, or as it is called in Marxism, jefatura (“great leadership”). According to jefatura theory, a great leader is supposedly proven in practice, not something to be declared or claimed.
Still, I don't think that's the point of problematizing Climate Stalin as I'm more concerned about the carceral and authoritarian implications of this impotent desire to gulag and execute the people destroying the world.
