@tchambers every few weeks I consider making a matrix client... Element is just... not what I want.

Jake Hamilton (jakehamilton@hachyderm.io)'s status on Monday, 13-May-2024 02:47:23 JST Jake Hamilton In a single day, sourced only from fedi, 268 people have committed to migrating to a fork. 184 as users and 84 as contributors maintaining packages. This is a very good starting point for a #NixPkgs fork (which includes #NixOS).
The biggest blocker remaining is #Nix itself. Securing maintainers for Nix (the cpp project) would mean a newly established fork can exist independently. If you would be able to do so, please get in touch.

Thank you Hachyderm team for continuing to safeguard this instance while remaining calm and approaching every problem with a level head.

Jake Hamilton (jakehamilton@hachyderm.io)'s status on Monday, 20-Nov-2023 03:12:23 JST Jake Hamilton @thomasfuchs I love JavaScript, I write it for a living. But good lord these important systems should be several orders of magnitude simpler. Absolutely no reason for it to be running chromium with a web app...

The browser then pulls those styles and applies them to a skeleton html page. The example case used CSS and lots of pseudo elements to create an interactive galaga game.

Jake Hamilton (jakehamilton@hachyderm.io)'s status on Saturday, 04-Mar-2023 15:20:58 JST Jake Hamilton @underlap @davidak I moved away from my long-time Arch system to NixOS. Almost immediately I moved every machine I own (and vps I rent) to NixOS.
Imagine Arch with all the latest packages, a rich community, and none of the manual steps involved in setting up the system or installing and configuring services. Your whole system configurations goes in a "configuration.nix" file that lets you build and reproduce your exact system.

Jake Hamilton (jakehamilton@hachyderm.io)'s status on Sunday, 11-Dec-2022 10:52:40 JST Jake Hamilton The most amazing effect of #NixOS is that I've never felt as in-control of my system as I have on NixOS. I decided what is installed, I decided what services run, I decided when to update, what to update, and even if I only want to update individual programs or services. All while remaining fully reproducible and declarative. Incredible.
There is no other #Linux Distribution or even #OperatingSystem that comes close.
