@mekkaokereke My mom, who taught elementary school for 38 years, always tells stories about how when integration came to Orlando and the way white parents were so fearful for their kids’ safety. They peered through the windows to make sure they’re kids were okay. I guess they thought their kids would be stewed and served w/a side of cornbread.
But she also says that once white parents learned how much better the Black teacher were, they all clamored to get their kids in Black teachers classes.
