Hoo boy, got a lot of stuff done in the garden today. Planted some neat little native ground cherries and was able to separate out 5 extra plants from the pots they were in. Bought 3 ground cherry plants, now have 8. Score. Planted some pepper plants that I started from seed. Planted a Calamondin tree that I started from seed. Planted some Luffa, Bottle Gourd and Nasturtium seeds. Planted a bunch of wildflower and herb seeds in a seed starting tray. I also potted up some Jackfruit trees that I started from seed that were almost outgrowing their pots. Propogated a couple Mulberry trees via cuttings. Harvested a few carrots for the kids to eat for a snack this evening.

PS. I'm filthy and need a bath.

Some observations in the garden today:

    - The Barbados cherry is starting to flower with a good dozen or so blooms and hopefully more to come. Yay!
    - Found 4 good sized purple sweet potatoes bulging out of the mulch. Much faster development than I expected! I guess growing sweet potatoes quickly even over winter is a benefit of living in a pretty warm climate.
    - The Moringa trees I planted last summer have been flowering for a while but are now finally growing seed pods.
    - The Cassava is also getting ready to flower.

It's hard to overstate how excited I am about our food forest right now. Some things have been in the ground for nearly a year now. A lot of it is doing quite well and a few things are really starting to get going. I love going out there every day and seeing what has changed.

I won't get a very big harvest from any one thing yet at this point but I have a lot of things producing a little bit. That's pretty exciting getting to try all the different things. What is really cool is that there are so many different varieties of everything. Even the things that are generally familiar are a new experience because the cultivars I'm growing are different than the ones you would find at the grocery store.

It takes like 5 mins (10 mins tops) to measure and dump everything in to make a delicious freshly baked loaf of bread in the bread machine. And yet! I'm still too lazy to even do that some days, lol.

How do you listen to music? I'm going to guess that for most of you the answer is spotify or some crap like that :-P. I kid. But if you listen to your music in a more interesting way tell me about that.

Personally, I listen to music in a combination of ways. Vinyl records, a diy multi-room home music server setup, minidiscs and local files from a smartphone or small low power computer. I use them all regularly as they all make sense for certain situations.

There are a couple projects demonstrating some nice looking capabilities of the Beepy and it's display. I just need somebody to build a PDA interface on top of one of these X-).

@killyourfm I keep thinking about itch.io having potential. It's mostly games but there is music and other non-game things on there too. Itch doesn't even take a minimum commission on sales. They let creators choose how much if any they want to give to itch to support the platform. Itch might actually have a real opportunity to grow here if they put some effort into music.

It's pretty wild how I went years and years (like 5+ at least) basically paying zero attention to music beyond listening to my tried and true favorites here and there or a radio station/stream sometimes. For some reason I snapped out of that 3 or 4 years ago and my music libary has been growing ever since. Lots of new bands and new albums from old bands, new genres I've gotten into and everything.

I don't know where I'm going with this I just think it's interesting.

    Battery Thoughts:

In a better timeline we would have a standard format for low/medium voltage battery packs that could be used generically in lots of different pieces of equipment. Imagine if instead of every power tool, ebike and portable power pack having different and incompatible batteries, you could instead purchase universal battery packs in different sizes from different sources that could be used with anything you owned.

This thought brought to you by a hurricane. Oh, I won't be needing these ebike battery packs while there is a storm rolling through but it sure would be nice if they could be used to power other things if the power goes out.

Something I really like about replacing essentially 90%+ of my car trips with the ebike is how I get about an hour per day of moderate cardio just doing the things I normally do. It's not going to make me a super fast cyclist but I feel like it's a super easy and enjoyable way to do something that's good for my health.
