Someone just wrote "Goof afternoon" instead of "good afternoon" to me in an email. This changed the entire tone of the email in my head. LOL

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Sep-2024 22:41:57 JST Kaliah You know? I'm realizing what a pain in the ass it is, at least for me, to read something off a computer out loud, reasons for needing to do this vary. The options are either 1, listen to the screen reader, pause it every 3 seconds, and ultimately read at a slow pace. Or 2, spend 5000 dollars on a braille device that only shows you about 5 words at a time so you have to scroll down every 2 seconds, which also slows me down. There has to be a better way for us to do this.

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Monday, 02-Sep-2024 13:50:12 JST Kaliah So, something I appear to have just discovered with youtube ads. With almost any ad, you can block it if you're not interested in it, don't like the content, or just generally find it annoying, and it won't come up again. Except, you literally can not block ads for youtube premium or youtube music. I will never, ever be interested in either of those things, and yet, as far as I can see, there's no way to opt out of, express disinterest in, or otherwise block these ads. You're forced to see them, even if you don't want to. What the fuck? Why is nobody talking about this? And this trash company wonders why I download everything I enjoy to my local drive. Really wishing I could put that downloaded content on my phone right about now

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Saturday, 06-Jul-2024 23:49:44 JST Kaliah Okay, people. When you're writing out a word, be that a swear word, or a word that could be triggering for some, or even just a word you find generally uncomfortable to write. Please do not use alternative characters to attempt to censor it. It makes it much more complicated to read, it disrupts people who potentially want to filter out that word from social media, and in the worst cases it can be confusing to people. I've had a couple times where people replaced letters with numbers, or non-qwerty characters to attempt to censor a word, and their attempt made me utterly confused by my screen reader's output. Please just write the actual word in its uncensored entirety. It is not bad and will help people know what you mean, and in some cases will make it easier for people to filter out the content that triggers them or that they don't want to see. Thanks

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Thursday, 23-May-2024 06:33:59 JST Kaliah Not so dear discord,
Please choose a mobile interface and leave it. No seriously. Leave the mobile interface alone. Choose a layout and stick with it. You should not be changing your interface four times over the course of 6 months. Yes. I have had my interface change four times as of today and I'm getting extremely tired of it. Please stop it and stop it right now before I send the Kaliah roarmonster to forcefully teach you a lesson in interface development. Hint: It does not involve developing new flashy interfaces every 3 MS.
Sincerely,
A very dissatisfied user -

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Thursday, 02-May-2024 15:04:39 JST Kaliah Okay... I want to say this. Right here and right now. When you're around disabled people, you should do the following:
1. Don't speak to someone else who is with the disabled person as if the person can't speak for themself. This is incredibly rude and harmful. There's nothing wrong with communicating with a disabled person. Ever. There isn't a problem. There. Is. Not. A. Problem. With any of it. Talk directly to us.
2. Don't ignore disabled people. Talk to us. Ask us questions. We are people just like anyone else living in this world. Asking questions and having conversations with disabled people is not wrong, rude, disrespectful or harmful. It's okay. Seriously. It's fine.
3. If a disabled person tells you to stop doing something, even if you think it's somehow helpful to them or you think they need you to do it for them, stop. Seriously. Just stop doing it. They're telling you to stop for a reason. Society has this common need to overdo it when it comes to helping disabled people. If they're asking you to stop, then stop.
4. Respect us. There is not a single person, and that includes disabled people, in this world who doesn't deserve basic human respect.
5. Don't look down on us. We have disabilities, but we can still live our lives. We just do things differently than people without disabilities do. It isn't something to be ashamed of. I also hate the societal stereotype that disabled people going about their lives are an inspiration. Stop thinking that too. We're people. We live. We exist. We have just adapted in our own ways, and as such, we may live a little differently. And that's okay.
Once again. Ableism needs to stop existing. Please, please do not participate in it. It's a real problem that hurts so many people -

This thing is a pile of explosive shit. That's all I will say, although I could create a 20 page essay on how fucked this stupid interface is

Sure, I have a couple of issues with it, but the mobile one is where I really, really have big problems. The desktop one makes sense to me with the hotkeys and what not, the mobile one is just total garbage

Kaliah (kaliah@dragonscave.space)'s status on Thursday, 09-Nov-2023 20:33:26 JST Kaliah A weird dream I had a couple of nights ago that I just now remembered. I somehow managed to set up some sort of VM on my computer (something I've never done in real life) with some strange version of Windows 10. Apparently, it was a version that was never outside of microsoft, and came from 10's development. How I got this I have no idea. My screen reader used some voice I couldn't change, and there were entirely different system sounds. In fact, the sounds were like nothing windows has ever implemented. There were sounds for everything,, alt tabbing, going to the desktop, opening the start menu... Literally everything had a sound. Also this version of Win10 had a ridiculously long shutdown sound, just because. Thing went on for like 15 seconds. No, I'm not sure why my brain did this.
