Getting chased by a stupid AI company for a (claimed) royalty free image on my blog that I obtained from pixabay.

I replaced it immediately. It was not important, Now using another royalty free image...

Beware, there is an ongoing spambot attack in #GitHub issues in several projects were random people suggest "the fix" is to download a random file from mediafire.com. Like this:

this month, August 2024, has the most number of git commits in #curl than any other month in curl history

if you ever want to trigger a scared and exhausted look in a protocol developer's eyes, ask how trailing dots in hostnames work in their stack

But don't stick around for the answer. It will not be pretty.

Exactly eight years ago #Microsoft made powershell open source and I *immediately* filed a pull request to remove their #curl alias...

Starting in #curl 8.10.0, curl works a little harder to come up with a filename to store the download in when -O is used.

@a1ba @dlatchx @holsta @lanodan there is, and we don't do a very good of using that in curl. But then I think I run curl's configure probably more than anyone else anywhere and I don't suffer much...

@lanodan @dlatchx @holsta @a1ba only that they did not die. They just shrunk and we normal humans don't use them. They still have users and they still run configure scripts...

"cmake -DCMAKE_UNITY_BUILD=ON -B build" takes 11.1 seconds for me

"make -sj" in that build dir takes 2.3 seconds for me

but I normally use configure

A very "complete" configure run takes <10 seconds for me and then "make -sj"takes 3.4-3.5 seconds.

This is on a 13th Gen Intel i7-13700K running Linux.
