Quick arrest story:
I got pulled over at 2am with a taillight out. Cop probably thought he snagged himself a DUI. Nope. I never drive under the influence. I had a bench warrant though that I didn’t know about.
A few months previous to that night I pulled my 18 wheeler into a weigh station for a standard safety check at the Colorado boarder and one of my documents (physical health card) was considered fictitious because the retarded doctor that gave me my physical gave me the carbon copy instead of the original. While the carbon copy was in my wallet it became hard to read, so I went over the carbon copy with blue pen, so I guess it did look a little odd. I was supposed to Mail in supporting evidence to the county clerk to prove I had a valid health card and I was sent on my way. I totally blew it off/forgot. A bench warrant was then put on me for failure to comply.
I spent a night in jail and released in the morning under my own personal recognizance. Which means I was given custody back to myself. I was given a choice to appear in court or mail in my supporting docs. I did both. I mailed in my supporting docs immediately and then showed up at the court house on my court date just to make sure my name was cleared. IT WASN’T cleared!!!
I luckily also brought the same supporting docs that I had mailed them. They told me they hadn’t received them. If I hadn’t showed up that day I would have had another bench warrant for the exact same shit.
