@leyonhjelm The entire concept of zoning is rife with corruption. A crook with political connections can make guaranteed free money by buying land zoned as "toxic waste dump" and then use their pull to get it rezoned as "luxury condos".

BTW, every piece of land in Houston is defacto zoned as "toxic waste dump". We've got schools next to strip clubs next to megachurches.

@pyrate @sickburnbro @lichelordgodfrey Yeah even back when I worked retail 20 years ago the EBT cards swiped exactly like debit/credit cards on the same terminal. Functionally, they are identical. The cashier usually can't even tell that they just "sold" something to someone who is getting it for free. At least "food stamps" had some fucking stigma attached to them.
