@mangeurdenuage@icedquinn I haven't attempted BGA soldering yet. I don't have the right tool for it to make myself comfortable with doing it. Surface mount and through hole components are pretty straight forward though.
@icedquinn Yeah it's a tiny box. It's not a super powerful cpu but it's a sizeable upgrade from my old streaming box that had a 4th gen intel Core i5 cpu and 6GB of DDR3 ram. it was an AIO box.
I'm tempted to convert that into an IPTV box once I clean it out and give it to a relative or I might reformat it clean and sell it for $50-75 to offset the cost of upgrading to a newer box.
LENOVO M75n Nano MICRO TINY PC Desktop Ryzen 3 PRO 3300U 8GB with 128GB of storage.
Not the most powerful CPU and not a lot of ram but it's perfect for what I want to do with it. I planned on using it as a kodi box to stream movies / tv off my file share and setup as an iptv box with a media remote for my bedroom.
@coolboymew I mean Microsoft's model with "play anywhere" it feels kind of pointless to keep selling consoles when they can sell you Gamepass and the cloud and remove the upfront cost of hardware and pass the expense on the users buying pc's or portable devices to use the service.
I don't think they're done with consoles yet but I think the new Xbox Series X revision that's all digital will probably be their last console. It makes sense since microsoft is no longer pressing physical games for their new releases and retailers like Wal*Mart are already starting to pull xbox one games off their retail shelves to the clearance bin.
As much as I hate Sony atleast they're giving their digital consumers the ability to buy an add-on to use physical media on their consoles. Microsoft could've learned something from Sony but they're all in on you owning nothing and being happy so fuck em.
@coolboymew It kinda sucks to say that because I really liked the Achivement system with gamerscore on the xbox 360. I feel their achievements system is better than the Playstation format with trophies. I mean there is Steam achievements to fill that void too but SAM kinda makes those trivial and not really valuable.
On slim PS2's you're better off loading / booting games using the netboot feature on Free McBoot.
Slim PS2's have an integrated modem for online functionality using a 10/100 ethernet jack and is much faster than the limitations of the USB 1.1 bus that PS2 consoles use. You can load games via USB but your mileage may vary. Especially with cutscenes which are a huge part of PS2's game feature set.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad@Moon My first introduction to the DK rap was in Smash Bros. Melee I kinda liked it as a set piece there for the level. I can't do smash bros. anymore I got burned out on the series after 1000's of hours of melee and now I get nauseated thinking about playing that game. I kinda hit the same issue with counter strike but I quit when I realized the game went to shit with the introduction of F2P and the new ELO system with global leaderboards is just encouraging rampant cheating. Used to be bad enough you'd have people cheat to get global elite rank and now it's ELO score as well so more clout chasing.
Smash Bros. was a fun game when I was a kid especially when you got all the neighbor hood kids together to duke it out.
Tourney smash players are kinda cringe since Smash was never really designed to be a competitive game. There are way better fighters designed around that scene. Typically the Capcom fighter games.
I still need to try the new Killer Instinct that came out awhile ago but I haven't got around to it yet. I did enjoy the crap out of the SNES one even though Cinder is technically a broken and overpowered character since he has an unblockable attack.
@olmitch@noyoushutthefuckupdad@Moon@coolboymew Diddy Kong racing was a cool game I never owned it personally but played it at other people's houses and enjoyed it. I really liked the title theme song for that game.
Rare was only one to excel heavily in the audio department. I know Tommy Tallarico like to fellate himself because of his music he made for Earthworm Jim but David Wise was in a league of his own.
I remember having this start playing in Truth and Reconcilation.
It's a really epic song even more so if you're playing on legendary all skulls on solo. CE is probably my favorite Halo game of the set. I like Halo 3 as well but CE just has something about it that really sets it apart from the rest.
