@triodug@Moon I figured out that twitter was suppressing my posts because my username contained the letters NFT. I decided to change my username and saw that the impressions immediately shot up 2/3 times the amount. I dont really care but it was interesting to see. I guess it makes sense with the amount of scams constantly going on.
@lain@feld some people on the show opted to not go through with the surgery after losing a bunch of weight without it. on the other hand, some people get the surgery and rebound into over-eating, stretching out their stomach and making the surgery completely pointless.
the surgery helps some people since it makes them physically incapable of eating more. but where there's a will, there's a way.
@Moon@awl >After college, Carlson tried to join the Central Intelligence Agency, but his application was denied, after which he decided to pursue a career in journalism with the encouragement of his father, who advised him that "they'll take anybody".
In this specific instance, it seems like Li is in fact a spy though. Chen was her asset and Greschner is co-opted. Sold his soul for some big contracts. This part made me perk up my ears:
Greschner said he and Li were out of town and unaware of what happened until days later. Greschner made his way to Fan’s rental home and powered on the Hummingbird computers that Fan had left behind. The drives were so thoroughly erased Greschner said he had to reinstall their operating systems.
Why would he re-install the operating system on a computer that will obviously become evidence in a spying / data exfiltration investigation? Seems like tampering and aiding a coverup to me. I wonder how that affected the chances of forensic data recovery.
@Moon@yockeypuck@graf@sandwich I'm reading up on this now and it seems like leadership at the Fusion Center were also definitely compromised. There are so many security controls that were flat out ignored that I find it hard to believe it was just incompetence.
