Rich white people send their kids to private schools. They can rely on the school being mostly white, even in a majority black city like Memphis, because the school can reject whoever they want for any reason, and they do. “Sorry, you’re not a good fit”

Then we wonder why people are out here fundamentally not understanding people that aren’t exactly like them. Public school exposes you to a million different lives. You make friends that have completely different experiences of the world

Meanwhile, republicans are trying to create these “vouchers” which take money away from public schools and give it to private schools under the bullshit reason of “school choice.” They actually caught a TN legislator saying he wanted to decimate the public school system. They want to put poor people at a disadvantage.

@AproposJoe how about, “all private schools are exclusionary and too expensive for many people to get the education they deserve because public schools are underfunded. Also because many private schools are tied to a church, they get tax benefits that public schools don’t get; therefore, the poor and middle class are actively harmed by private schools. Also they’re racist” How does that sound?
